Anyone out there use an electric fuel pump? im having an intermittent issue with my teryx. occasionally at full throttle (and off camber too i think...like side duning and what not), the car seems to run out of gas. i roll back to flat ground, let it idle for a few and it runs fine. this doesnt happen all the time tho. never had it happen before i did the 840 kit. im thinking that maybe the stock fuel pump cant keep up with the needs of the bbk??? any ideas???

The stock pump is more than adequate when it is working properly. Sounds like your pump might have a problem.

Check your fuel filter first. If it's plugged it won't flow enough fuel.

Did the '08's come with electric fuel pumps? Will the 09 pump/tank work in the 08? Probably cheaper to get an aftermarket one and put it inline, though.

08s are carbureted and 09s are EFI. The 09 and newer pump would have much too high of fuel pressure for an 08. FYI.

thanks for the input chris... i replace the fuel filter frequently, so i dont think it is that. ill see if i can pick up another stock pump to see if that helps my problem out. the FI models run somewhere around 40 psi or so, where as the carbs are probably 3-5 psi. ill stick with the stock pump since it should be fine with the bbk...

I had an issue out in Glamis this past weekend and maybe this is my problem as well. Did it kind of sound like the engine was wheezing? Mine did and as soon as I went down a hill and was level again everything seemed fine. I haven't changed my fuel filter yet so maybe I should do that just as a part of regular maintenance.

sounds like the same issue i am having. it literally felt like it was running out of gas, then on level ground it would run fine. i replaced my fuel filter and it didnt make a difference.... im going to take chris' advice and pick up another pump..

the pumps aint cheap but partshark.com has them for $432! im having fuel issues and its boiled down to my pump! thats the cheapest place ive found but if anyone knows a cheaper place im up for listening! lol

mine cranks and idles fine but full throttle it cuts out bad! spits,sputters,pops and just about dies! if i ease into it it does ok! ive checked eveything even drained the tank and cleaned it thinking i had water in the tank but didnt help!

I just recently had my fuel pump replaced at the dealer. and it wast only 85 bux. plus .5 hour labor but i have an 08

no shit??? if they are that expensive, im definitely going electric...

ahh...that sounds a lot better. ill look around to see what i can find...

found this on babbitts online... 49040-0025 PUMP-FUEL $65.02 not too bad...
