Backfiring and Power loss on long distance ride...

We went on a long ride today Id say about 100 miles and up until this ride I have never had trouble with my 2010 Teryx, How ever after about fifty miles my ride started back firing and missing, and I had a major loss of power.. It actually got to a point where I couldn't go faster than 12 miles an hour. I have no idea what caused this. We bought it brand new had it only four months now.. What could be the problem? I was thinking Fuel pump, but since we have let it sit for a while than rode it again it wasn't doing it again. So im not sure whats up. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
