Help cam timing

Want to get this right the first time
if the timing mark is on tr is that tdc for the rear cylinder or is it possible that it can be 180 deg out ??? It feels like the piston is all the way up but how do i tell if it's on the compression stroke or the exhaust stroke

It doesn't matter, your cam determines that. Bolt the cam in with the lobes pointing down, then put the timing gear on. When you bolted the rear cam cove on take a 19mm wrench to the crank bolt. Hold the wrench up at 12 0-clock turning it clock wise until you get to about 8 o-clock and keep turning it until you look in inspection hole looking for TDC-F. Then put your cam in and repeat the rear cam instructions.
