Wrench DIY Siphon Break

Ok here it goes...tired of oil puke in the air box and I just can't see paying $35-$40 for solution so here is what I did: Went to Lowes and bought a 3/4" PVC electrical fitting ($2.98), (2) 1/2" PVC female adapters ($0.32 each), 1/2" Pipe thread to 3/8" barb nylon elbow fitting ($1.88) and 1/2" pipe to 3/8" barb brass fitting ($3.53)...Got the UNI breather for $10 at shop. Total cost $19.03 (I had TPE paste, tie wraps and hose clamps at the house so those were not included in the cost)

Assembled

Cut the breather line at the top of the elbow in existing line

Tie wraped the excess back on the plenum

Clamped my DIY Siphon break to the bottom and tie wraped it to the plenum

If oil pukes up it will collect in the res. and once the pressure decreases will drain the oil back into the crankcase instead of blowing it into the air box. Oh, I RTV'ed the front cover of the electrical PVC to seal the box up. If it ever breaks there is always a Lowes/Home Depot/Ace HArdware to repair/replace.

Awesome solution Bob!

However, I'm a firm believer in crank case evac and believe an engine needs some vacuum to help draw pressure from the case. You should tap the other side and hook it up to the plenum?

Rev.2??? I'll see how it performs under a high rev load, if needed I'll remove the filter and change the elbow to a straight and clamp the plenum hose to that fitting.

I know it's not the greatest looking, but once the engine cover is in place nobody sees a thing!

Haha. Who cares how it looks under the cover! Mine is safety wired to the intake still!

ok not that familiar with the plenum?????? what is this? I was going to buy these parts today but now im not sure. thanks guys.... ok shouldnt say i dont know what the plenum is but what's it's purpose and when you romove the stock airbox lid or new type of air box wouldn't that affect the pressure as well? just thinking out loud(or writing. whatever)

Did your catch can work or did you hook it back up to intake plenum? I cut my breather hose and put a filter on it but it still blew oil all over, does your set up stop that. Thanks

What was your final completed modification? Did it make a difference, was it needed?

The OG "redneck rev. 1" is still in there and I have had no issues.
