I have a 2008 Teryx that is giving me trouble. The fuel pump went out several weeks ago and we replaced it. I went ahead and cleaned the carbs and adjusted the valves. After all of that it runs great but I only have about half throttle and it is weak. Now I have replaced the cdi with a dyna tech unprogrammable. I am still having the same throttle and response. It seems to pop in the carbs when you rev it up. Please give any ideas that you think it might be. Thanks

I've been having similar issues. Make sure your carbs are completely clean by pulling out all the jets and air screws and spray cleaner and compressed air through everything, then look to see that the slides are moving in the carbs.

I carried it another guy to check me on the valves. He said they are right. I haven't checked the float. I am leaning toward a speed sensor but not sure. The fuel pump seems to be right but how do you check it? My old one flooded the whole engine with fuel. Dumped it all on the rear cylinder. I think the fuel in the oil did something electrical.

A bad fuel pump can still pump and most of the time does so that is not an accurate test. The reason the crankcase floods in most cases is a hole in the pump diaphragm. The fuel leaks thru the hole and fills the crankcase thru the vacuum line. If the float needle is not working fuel will typically run out of the overflow on the carb or around the float bowl seal.

Might try pulling one spark plug wire off at a time and see how or if it will run. Mine would idle but not rev up. It would not start with the front wire off but would idle with the rear wire off. Compression check showed 150 psi in front 50 psi in rear. May help you see which cylinder is having trouble and go from there.

I appreciate the help. I pulled the coil off of both cylinders(1 at the time) and I will does die out slowly. They seem to be getting good spark. You can here it start popping as soon as you get it off the plug. I have about 140 psi on both cylinders.

Agree, if your motor is stock, you should be between 35-70 psi compression. You've changed nothing in the motor right? No rejet, needles ect???

If you have fuel pressure, and good spark (based on your black plugs) it sounds to me like your running rich. What size is your main jet? Do you have an exhaust or high flow air intake?

Make sure spark arrester is clean. If its clogged up it could cause things to not work correctly.

I almost did the same thing with mine and gave up and was going to take it to a better mechanic than I. However. I pulled the carbs off a second time and pulled out every jet and air screw and sprayed carb cleaner and air through everything. I also put some Seafoam in the tank and got running better than I can remember in 3 years!

Wow looks like I need a new compression gauge it's from the mid 70's. But the point is your cylinders are pretty much the same reading. Mine had bad valves in the rear.

I seem to be getting somewhere. I went through the carbs again and everything is clean. What does it mean when I can cover up half of the air box (restrict the air flow) and it runs better. No popping in carbs and the throttle seems right. I haven't took it off the lift yet to see if it helped when it is rolling.
