No TOP END

I have a 08 rex with dual yosh exhaust Custom plenum with no air box and k and n air fitler. I have put a hunter works carb kit in it the needles on the second notch 2 and 1/2 turns out on air screw front carb has a 175 and the rear has a 180. Runs great.... Low end will throw you back in the seat hard mid range runs smooth and top end sounds good. But i can only hit about fourty eight or nine going up hill floored and dont hit the limiter. What could this be????? I have got a dynatec cdi coming this week for it do you think this will help?? or am i rich or lean on the top end? i checked the rear plug and it was a light charcoal color..... what you guys think before i tere into it?? it runs great just dont have the top end it did before i did the cold air intake???????

I have 09 would run 52 before I put cdi on it, had a buddy with 08 would only run 48 until he put cdi on, there is a speed limiter along with the rpm limiter when you hit the speed limiter you don't feel anything like you do when you hit the rev limiter it just don't go anyfaster, I think you will see faster speeds when you put the dynatech cdi on when I put my msd on HUGE difference about 10mph

that intake might be flowing too much and not giving the carbs enough vacuum to open the slids all the way.

i wouldnt do anything until you get the dynatech in. if you still have issues after that install, then i would worry about it...

try the cdi first and see what it does, I have the same machine and stock it was 45 max on the speedo, now I have 68 on a gps. have you changed any of the clutch setup or is it stock?

That is what i am thinking, I am thinking that i am getting way more feul and air that the sock spark can keep up with, with the stock cdi box in. I think the new one will make the difference with the hotter spark and better curves. I may put the dynatek coils on as well.....

Ya i put a epi clutch system with a heavy duty belt, what all do you have done to your machine?

does your rear clutch shift out or is it too tight? may not be able to centrifically shift out the rear clutch, 100% {had that happen}, if the stock air box and muffler are on it you wont be able to flow enough air to see peak levels, if you use a black magic marker and draw on the sheaths and make a black mark, run it up to max and then stop. drive back slow and recheck your marks now, the belt will wear off your mark and show you were your clutches are shifting, or not shifting, they should both be at max or close to it, this was a snag I ran into and Im not trying to say or start a tunning war here only sharing my snag, I have a dynatech cdi, hunterworks carb kit, O.D. clutch cover, clutch kit, modified stock exhaust, 27 inch super swampers on itp rims, modified air inlets, with a stock belt, 4 seater and street legal. Would try the cdi box first and see what it does, you will see and feel a difference.

48 up hill sounds like its running fine if it was on flat ground then your losing a little but uphill I don't think theres anything wrong with it thats about all your gonna get.

Dynatek will make a big difference, next I would do a vforce clutch mod. With the stock tires you should be able to get 58 with the cdi, with a clutch cap you should get about 68 on the speedo. They are off tho, mine said 68 on the speedo and I was getting 63 on the gps.

Is anyone paying attention here he's complaining about 48 mph going uphill I would kill for that speed with just an exhaust and intake.
