Is an MSD worth it on a stock machine

Is it even worth getting with a stock 09? Do I just use the preloaded maps for a stocker or are there other maps than benifit a stock machine better? Clutch mod and exhaust are coming soon but working of safety first.

no question buy it , I bought mine from Hunterworks. On my 09 with just the msd I went from 51mph to 63mph with no other mods, that was with a map Todd has just for a stock machine, I later put the Muzzy on and he also has a map for that, Todd was one of the few people that helped with the research to market the MSD. It would be the first thing I put on mine if I bought a new car.

They make for a big improvement on a stock machine plus if you do any mods you will need it for sure. PM dasaracing.com for a great deal, I believe he has them in stock. I helped dasaracing.com with the MSD prototype they were working with.

Yes, definitely worth it on a stock machine! On average, about 3-4 hp gain over stock when adding the MSD. Plus, it raises the rev limiter so now you're not stuck at 50 mph any more.
I have them in stock in Ramona, PM me if you need any more info.

Here is what we have found on our 2009 and 2010 testing. We setup cones and did some timed runs and checked top speeds. We did three runs for each test then took the average. All speeds are speedo speeds. Here is what we found today.

STOCK 2010 Teryx
51 MPH top speed ......... 7200 RPM
200ft time - 37 MPH @ 6.10 sec
400ft times - 45 MPH @ 9.62 sec
700ft times - 49 MPH @ 14.39 sec

added MSD on advance map 3 and fuel map 4
58 MPH top speed ....... 8300 RPM
200ft time - 38 MPH @ 6.02 sec
400ft times - 46 MPH @ 9.51 sec
700ft times - 51 MPH @ 14.20 sec

added DASARACING over drive clutch cover
60 MPH ........ 7400 RPM ....... all 200,400 and 700 ft times were the same as above.

ADDED .... Dasaracing pipes and Dasa fuel curve .... UPDATED
65 MPH top speed .......
200ft time - 5.43
400ft times - 48 MPH @ 8.67 se.
700ft times - 55 MPH @ 12.74 sec.

Here is the big issue ....... YES ... the over drive cover only gained 2mph on top end ...... BUT ... it dropped the max RPM by 1000 and still went faster. Without the overdrive cover the stock car is REVING OUT BIG TIME at 58MPH and at 8300 RPM. With the over drive cover installed it is crusing at 60 and not reving out hard at 7400 RPM. You wont want to drive your teryx around at 58MPH spinning 8300 RPM for very long. By adding the over drive cover you will gain 2 MPH and drop the RPM's down to 7400. Once we add pipes, intake and throttle bodies this car will rev out higher then the 7400 and gain some more top speed. Our 840's with the same setups are hitting 70+ MPH. More testing to come very soon. ......... all other clutch parts were STOCK

ok so from this testing I take it you are recommending the msd and just the clutch cover-no clutch kit needed? What air box or filter did you use during this testing session? I have a sport 09 and have the same interest and eventually want to add the pipes.

On a stock car all you need is MSD and Billet over drive cover. I have package deals on that PM me for a KILLER DEAL.

I am running the Dasa intake kit ..... no intake on the market right now will add any HP. The Dasa filter kit will just make sure your filter stays on and engine stays clean.

The MSD and billet over drive cover with our map will get you alot faster then stock. Then add some pipes for even more gains.

finnaly got somewhere I could try this out. Just put in the MSD with clutch cap and I think I did the MSD right but down the sand highway the damn thing wouldn't get past 51mph...

Any input? Thought I loaded the map right but maybe not.

My input would be not to try and test top speed in the sand.
