Default grinding

The dealer put a new belt on my teryx and the belt is tight enough that it squeals in gear at idle and is very tight to shift. Whenever I shift gears it grinds a little to go into gear. My idle is turned down to the point it will barely keep running. Any idea why it is doing this. Thanks.

Default Belt

I put a new epi belt on mine friday. I set the belt with the mimimum amount of slack. It squeeled just a little at first, I was real careful not to let it idle much in gear. After about an hour of riding it stretched a little and all noise stopped. Yours should do the same. If you do not set it tight you will have to adjust it again real soon. If adjusting was real quick it would be no problem, but I would rather ride mine LOL. I would also think your shifting will improve also. You should check your shift linkage adjustment. Mine was way off, the shift lever notches were not matching the detents in the trans. Its an easy adjustment.

Thanks for the info Jimmy. I'm not very mechanically inclined. Where do I find the indents on the tranny and do you think this will help with the grinding.
