Question 87 Vs 91 Octane

I know it wouldn't be hard to try it, just wondering for the ones that has try running 91 oct with a map programmed for 91, does it make a noticable difference from the 87. Also what happens when you have it mapped out to run 91 on the cdi and you really run 87?

At 8.8:1 CR I see no need for higher octane fuel unless you're running way too much timing.......

I'd be interested to hear from the experts! Todd?

Thanks for the info, I was just wondering why Lyle ask me if I needed a map for the 91 oct. The thing really has plenty of power with the vdi running 87 oct, I'm pretty much just hunt off of my, but its good to know that it will get up when I need it.
