Angry No power & BIG Blue Cloud Of Smoke ;(

Took the new teryx out today for the first time. Took it up the our local riding spot within the first 5 min.. of taking off it lost all power and spewed out the biggest cloud of blue smoke I have ever seen fill the entire canyon!!

I don't even know what happen I shut it off and let it set for a minute and tryed to start it and it would not start so I tryed again and gave it a little gas and it started and ran like it had bad plugs I reved it a little bit as it spewed out tons more blue smoke.. it finaly clear out and ran fine after that and never did it again.

I bought it with 2 hours on it from the dealer already.

Taking it back monday to have it checked out.

I put 2 more hours on it after that and it ran fine.

My guess is the engine blow by pipe going into the air box is blowing oil in. Mine did it too on the dyno and right now my air box has a good bit of oil in it.

I think I know a fix, need to get on it.

My brute used to do it after I would ride it hard. Its the carbs flooding. If it was oil you would be able tell by the smell. Also something that would cause that much oil smoke wont just clear up.

Blue Smoke = oil, Black smoke = flooding carbs, white smoke = steam= water in combustion chamber

This is the correct answer. Fuel does not cause blue smoke.

If it is anything like my 750 brute you do not want to fill the oil all the way to the full line .

I had 3.5 on mine when it happen I have a whopping 8 now and it has not happen since

I think mine did it becuase it was on loaded on a trailer sitting in front of my house all night on a big ass slope drive way and oil must have ran into the head and up into the cylindar!

I HOPE.

I told the deal and they looked at my like I was smokin crack!

JERKS!!!!

I check the air box and no oil
I also did a compression test to make sure I didn't have something different between the two heads. everything check out fine

When mine did it i was on the skinny pedal hard going up a hill . Lost power and felt like i was two feet deep in peanut butter like mud.

By the way what is a yzf catch can ? is it for stopping oil from getting into the aircleaner or what

Hey puddle jumper what is "yzf catch can" Or is it , you CAN CATCH a YZF with your teyrex?? IF SO LET US KNOW HOW ! no but seriously what is it

Just checked my airbox. no oil. removed filter and there is oil, looks like used oil, in/on the intake. Anyone know where the motor vents into intake, i cant see it

It is a breather chamber that comes on a Yamaha 450. It is basically a chamber that the oil can collect in instead of being pushed out the breather exit. When the engine is off, or the pressure is low, the oil can drain back into the engine out of the breather chamber. This is a part you put inline in the Teryx breather hose.
