I would think it would be easy to add some abs piping and snorkel the airbox set up higher. I would wonder how hard it would be to use larger carbs for a BBK. Do all carbs require vacuum to make the slides work properly?

AZ Filters

If you don't like K&N we can do a S&B or a True Flow. My experience is that if a K&N is cleaned and oiled properly (lots of oil) they work fine. If you are not K&N person we have other avenue's!!

We drag race and hill climb in the sand (dumont, sand mountain) we use a K&N with an outter wear. That being said the K&N works great if you use it in course sand but in fine powder type of dirt the K&N filter will allow fine dirt to pass through the filter and get in the engine. If you oil the filter too much then it stops the flow. Our drag bike is a banchee 725 on a lone star frame with 160 hp to the rear wheel runs on alky and we service the filter every day. Just my opion and observation

Exactly you are 100% correct so you use an over size filter so less vacuum is created allowing less small particles to be pulled through the filter.

I have several customers who have had to replace (rebuild) their engines due to the use of K&N filters. I didn't mean to start a argument. The picture is of one the desert race team I sponsor had on the shelf hence the bent places. They oiled it right and that was after one race.

I have no idea about the outwear being on this one or not but it does not really matter as it's job is to trap the large particles.

I like the Uni foam filters with oil. I don't have any experience with S&B cotton gauze filters but I do know they have more material.

K&N are good for racing but won't be on my everyday vehicle. If I needed to drag race down a paved road, yes but other wise no.

Sorry if I ruffled a feather or two.

Todd

Ok I need to say this one more time. I do Diesels, fast Diesels and we stopped running the K&N filters. No matter how much oil you put on them the dust will get through. I have Blackstone Lab test our oil after we race. The number one contaminant is Dirt/Dust. Now a turbo charged Diesel will pull way more air than this thing could ever pull, but when you put that much money in to a motor you need all the info you can get. Just be care full you need to look IN the filter (not the outside) the inside. If it's dusty where you are riding clean it every time. K&N's are just an air filter you can wash over and over that's all nothing special. In this application you need to run a cover you have to run a cover. I don't profess to know every thing just what I have seen in what I do. What we run now you can't run on this thing unless you don't want a passenger

Your kidding right?

Moving on...

I have run all three of the major air cleaners, K&N, Airaid, and aFe...they are all quality filters and I have never had a problem.

Just a little info that I have found over thee years of running GNCC race teams. We run races for two hours in all kinds of conditions. No matter what air cleaner we run the outerwears are a must. The trick to them is they act like a magnet because they have static and it traps the hard metals that do the most damage to the motors. The sand dunners should all ready know this but if not there is some info for you.

I have not looked at what to build as far as a air box yet but when I am dynoing our v-twin quads the fan blowing on the front of the quad pushes alot of heat off the motor up in to my face. The fumes or dirty air and heat can cause a lose in HP so I want to make sure any air being taken in is cool and clean for the best performance. I have even thought about building a box with dry ice in it for my short track racer during those 100* plus days.Just something to think about.
