help with viper winch

got my new viper 4000 winch tonite . mounted it all up except for rocker switch, shouldnt the winch still work by wire less remote? Or do i have to hook up that small ground wire and the small positive wire ? I turned on ignition and have power going into control box but nothing coming out.

ok i just grounded the black and hooked up red to positive side of battery and winch worked. i mounted box under the drivers seat. but im not sure if the rocker panel switch will make it to dash. also the wire that plugs into the box doesnt seem very snug, seems it should have a twist lock. definteley will easily vibrate loss. hate to start using duct tape so early on project lol
