belt/shim adjusting

Hey evrybdy!

My belt deflection is 32mm so i guess it needs adjusting from what ive read , the question is should i replace the belt or leave the same one? It has only like 10 hours ......about the shims, i ve read it has to be removed or added in order to get the recommended mm's in belt deflectión, now can someone add a pic of what a shim looks like....and where can i get them, plus in order to decrease the mm's should i add thin or thicker shim's ....spare all of my questions. Thanks in advanced

the shims are located between the two halfs of the secondary clutch, it will need to be removed and disassembled. the smaller or less shims the tighter the belt. i would stick with the belt you got since it has low hrs. usually just need to remove the thinner of the two shims to get it back in spec. you can get the shims in different thicknesses through the dealer.

couldn't of said it bettery myself Dave, great responce.

The shims come in 5 or 6 sizes and can be purchased from your dealer. They are not expensive. I would suggest that you remove a total of .2mm in shims but if your machine has never had the shims removed most likely it will have a .3 shim. I would suggest removing the point .3 which may make it a little bit too tight but nothing to worry about.

Just remove the smaller of the two shims, I tried to remove the larger shim and it was way to tight.

Go back to the stock spring in the primary it will engage a lot faster removing shims wont change engagement just belt deflection

Removal of shims???

I have a stock 2010, that im doing the 1st deflection adjustment after 15 hrs. What im reading is that there are only 2 shims, and i'm to take out the thinnest one.

However, my stock bike has 3 shims all definetly different sizes, cant see any numbers, but obvious to the eye. So is something different on mine or did i just miss read previous post.
My deflection is about 32-33mm.
