the front diff and parts? i was wondering if it would be worth it to lose the weight and rolling resistance to pick up some speed and handling in the desert.

I'm no expert, but I think it would be more trouble than its worth unless you are doing a complete swap to a motorcycle motor. You may lose some weight, but still be limited to about 50mph unless you have already done the aftermarket cdi (2008) or msd ignition (2009).

ya thanks but im hitting the top of the 60's now on hard flat. i was noticing it has a trend of nose down when landing so i need to shift weight rearward. figured if i lose the weight it would be even better

thought of this myself, haven't tried it yet though. my luck, the first time out, i would need it! i very rarely use 4wd in the dunes! how much does the front diff weigh? remember axles and driveline, cv's too! might make a difference?

im not a big dune guy but have used 4x a few times. the diff is a solid 25lbs and shafts are at least 5lbs each then the drive shaft is another 2-3lbs so its a big savings and would move the cg back quite a bit.
