New 1000cc alum. rods

I was shocked to see how lite these where. The stock rods are so thin I didn't think I was going to loose that much but the difference in weight is almost like taking off the bottom of the rod(with in 5 grams) My 93mm piston are only 5 grams more the then stock so I can't wait to take more weight of the crank to ballance it in. Before we would have to add weight on our old 900cc motor kits. Beside they are perdy

I just heard some sick news about another builders 1000cc motor blowing up that uses alum. rods too. Hope it's the way it was built and not a rod problem. You have to give these rods more squish clearence then a steal rod.

Yep. There is a big difference from loading a crank dyno to putting one on the ground. But that's apart of R&D,ruin & destroy.

I talked to someone that knows him, and it never got that fast.. Said he only ran it once, hood ripped off at 80, and he stayed in it and ran it up to 88mph before he ran out of room. It was still moving out, but that was the only time it was ran as of this weekend.

It's bad news for sure. Mickey, when you had yours made, did they give you a service limit on them? They do wear out. I wondered why everyone was going to them. For an endurance application, I don't know that it is ideal.

I was told it was only 86mphgot to love those numbers some people come up with. The motor builder says 90,another guy claims 99.5 and it's as low as 86

I made the alum. ones for drag racing my self. For long races or everyday drivers I have the long steal rods.Or I have a econo stroker to for those that don't go big valves and carbs.
