Default Anybody have hour meter issues?

Our hour meter is starting to fad away. I cant even tell how many hours are on it now. I did call our dealer and he said they would take care of it but I just wondered why it happened and if its gonna happen again! I do drive the Teryx to work everyday so it does sit outside for 8+ hours a day but right back in the garage after work.

Mine is not that accurate either (also Fast)...It is way off my gps time...but at work we use secure id's(card or key fob type to access our computers), and they get ruined if left in the sun, so if it happens again with the new one, you may want to cover the meter with a rag or something. That may help if it continues to happen...or you can always get an analog one...Or a Trailtech...but thats alot of $$ if it gets baked by the sun too...

Later!

I think mine is fast also. I let it run a short time to move it and it seems the meter clocks 1/10 of an hour awful fast.

Anyone care to test this theory? Could be interesting.
I know both my full size Chevy trucks came brand new and were over clocking on the odo!

Mine is 50% faster than I actually have the thing running. Tonight I went on a 30 minute ride. The meter showed over an hour of time

Brian, It sounds like two stupid dogs just tested his. If he was accurate, his is 50% over. I'm not sure mine is that off, but it sure would be a great gimmick for Kawasaki to get bikes in quicker for service. I'm not saying thats whats going on, but I wish they had put a odometer on mine.

just had a father and sons teryx's in for clutch mods and fathers had 76 hours on it and sons only had 37 on his. talked to dad today wondering how he could have so many more hours on his than sons and he said thats in possible. son takes his out a lot more then him. these are less than three weeks old. so we are keeping a eye on a few of them. i noticed after a ride one day my hours gained a little over 5 and wasn't out for 3-4 hours. thinking something is up

Same here drove for exactly 30 minutes yesterday, started it and started driving, and the hour meter ticked over close to an hour.

Gonna talk to the dealer about this one.

I just got back from Colorado where we were shaking our Teryx down. We timed our runs, and clocked 50% more time than we ran. Something is up here. I want a new meter, STAT!

I don't think a new meter will do anything different unluss it is calibrated differently. The hour meter is powered by the stator. It gets AC voltage from 2 of the 3 legs that make up the stator. The stator is outputting AC voltage anytime the engine is turning. Looks like a calibration issue to me.

Now that you mention this, I thought back to how much time is on ours and it says we have about 30 hours and I thought that was crazy! I dont drive it that much in the time we have had it.

Does anyone offer an odometer that is fairly easy to install? It seems that when I was looking at all the different brands, some of them offered one. I don't want to be doing a whole lot of extra maintenance when I could be riding. It gets expensive!

s2K1, My dealer had told me the hour meter ran anytime the key is on. Thanks for the info about the stator.
