Unhappy Can-Am Commander v. Teryx

I just bought a brand new Commander 800R XT, however, my buddy, and die-hard Teryx enthusiast, swears that I made a huge mistake by not buying a Teryx.

I told him he was crazy - this Commander is sweet!

What are your thoughts, opinions, etc.? Did I make the wrong move?

Thanks, all!

-Joe

To each there own.

It is all about what you want to drive. Each machine has their differences, some excel in areas that the other won't and vise versa.

So far the Teryx sits at the top of my list for what I use and need it for and was the right decision for me. If my use of the machine change I would maybe look at switching to another manufacture.

Welcome Joe! I think think they are both good machines and it comes down to personal preference. Have fun with it!

The only opinion that matters is yours. If you are enjoying it then you made the right purchase, now get out of the Teryx forum before we tar and feather you. (Just kidding, of course)

Your buddy is a wise man.

Around here the base Teryx is $10,000 and the 1000 Commander is $19,500. I know you have an 800, but man that is a huge price difference.

Seriously, enjoy your ride. The commander has a lot of nice features and a few first year bugs to be worked out. I hope your buddy let you drive his Teryx before you made your purchase.

Your opinion is the only one that matters. Just get out there and have fun with it. Thats what really matters.

I really like the Commander 800 and would like to have one someday. But there are too many issues with it now for me. Tie Rods, Belts, front diff, water pumps, and some serious frame issues have come up. Many other issues also on a smaller scale. I don't do first year models of anything for these reasons. I like to drive my machines and not have problems with them.

I knew the Commander was coming out when i bought my Teryx. I didn't wait on it. If i was going to buy all over again right now. I would buy the Teryx again. I really like the machine.

Commanders weak link is that front diff. But I personally would have spent the extra coin on the 1000
