problem with engine sputtering any ideas??
just got machine back from engine rebuild and at 30mph and up it will occasionally sputter like someone turned the choke on for a second? already replaced fuel filter, fuel pump and drained gas and replaced with all new and dry gas any ideas what could be causing it to do this? could it be a air leak somewhere from something not being tightened properly or maybe carb problem ( it is a carburation model 08 ) thanks for any and all ideas!!!

As you rev the motor a vacuum is created on the backside of the carb slide...this pulls the slide open (and the needle out of the main jet). If you have a hole or the seal around the diaphram isn't good, this vacuum will release and cause the slide to choke off the main jet fuel.
You don't see it at idle or up to around 1/4 throttle as the pilot jet is providing the fuel to the carb and the slide is closed. Make sense?

I was just gonna post a new thread similar to this. If I'm cruising at around 3/4 throttle its fine. But..... If I'm cruising at 3/4 and then mash it to the floor it falls on its face and spit and sputters until I back off again. New fuel filter, oil, and clean air filter. Don't know where to go from here. Any chance its the rev limiter? I doubt it but don't know how the limiters react on these since I haven't had the experience?
Brent if I were u I would be calling the engine builder and let him figure it out. If he just rebuilt it i would thing it should run flawless when u get it home. Last edited by nitroburner13; 04-21-2012 at 10:52 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
