why did it flip?

so Ive got about 200 h on my 08. I have just changed the oil, as well as the front and rear diff fluid with the corect oil and amount. I have done this before without any problems.
I also changed the rear seal by the drive shaft because it was leaking, which I hear is quite common.
any way me and my wife went out for a ride yesterday, and everything was great we were having a blast [ she hasnt been out for over a year because we just had a baby, so I was excited to take her out] we were going down a straight away on a logging road going about 70km when all of a sudden without warning it locked up! I tried to correct but it was unavoidable and we flipped it pretty good. somehow we ended back on all fours and were able to get it out.
The teryx will start but will not engage into any gear it just revs out I tried putting it in four wheel, diff locked unlocked and nothing it just revs up? I am really confused and would like an answer to why this happened and how I can fix it.
My box is bent all to rat shit and my roll bar has some dents but doesnt really look that bad. The four point harnesses and tbar grab handle I installed really helped, I dont think the out come would have been the same without them.
Any in fo would be great thanks

Sorry to hear about your issue.

Clutch lock up with a shreaded belt?

Edit/added more I would think the Teryxs is too heavy for this but have heard it happen on a quad.

Let us know what you find out.

I'm only guessing but maybe it was in 4x4 mode? That would account for the front end locking up and pulling you over?...This is one of the weirder ones I have heard of...But quite possibly a belt...when mine broke it flat out locked up but I was almost at a stand still when it did...so I gotta go with belt...

PS...I am glad you and the misses are ok...going over ain't no joke is it?...

I agree, the belt probably exploded.

When the belt explodes pieces of the belt go every where and part of the belt can wrap around stuff (highly technical explanation).

ill have to wait until my hand is better before I take it apart. Flipping this thing sucks but no broken bones, what else can you ask for?
if it was the belt whats the chance that thats all that broke am I looking into redoing my tranny or should it be just a new belt?
I know its hard to say until I open it up just wondering from experiences you guys might have had.
Its kind of scary that this type of thing can happen anytime, where I ride their arealot of cliffs.could have been so much worse I will be checking my belt alot more if this is the problem, I suggest you all do the same.

Most likely your belt. I had it happen twice on my Brute Force but never on my 09 or 11 Teryx's. However, I change the belts more frequently on the Teryx. Don't need that happening on an edge of a cliff like you said.
Good luck!

well I just stripped it down with some help and it turns out it was the belt,I tooke the inspection plate off and I could only see part of it.
Im kind of happy hopefully thats it, I dont think that little belt could really wreck anything in there. How often do you guys change your stock belt and is stock the way to go?
