Tried starting my Teryx, no juice. HELPP!!!

My 2008 Teryx has not seen as much action as it used to. I went out to start it today to take it for a spin and the battery was almost dead. I tried turning it over and it just whined at me, and then the dash went blank. I charged up the battery thinking that was all it needed, but I was wrong. With a fully charged battery I have no juice. No dash or anything. I checked all of the fuses and they are all good. Is there some sort of breaker on these things?

I just went out and tried it again. I changed the main fuse, and I got power. As soon as I went to turn it over, "POP", and no power again. The fuse was fine still. There has to be some kind of break that resets itself.

Maybe the battery is beyond being fully charged. Maybe try someone else's battery if possible.

It is reading only 12.4v. The weird thing is, I turn the key on and my dash lights up and everything, then I turn the key and hear a pop, then everything goes off. Even when I turn the key on and off, I have no dash lights or anything. Then after it sits for a while I get power back. I took the fuse block out and cleaned everything up with battery post cleaner. I put all brand new fuses in there too. There has to be something that is tripping before the fuses, because the fuses arent blowing.

You don't have anything being tripped because after a little while you have power again. If something trips, you would have to reset it before it will work again. I would be leaning more towards a loose ground connection or corroded wire. Check your hot wire to the solenoid and from there to the starter. Check your ground to the engine, the ground is located on the same side as the dipstick. I would also try another battery. You could have a battery read 12.4v but not have the amps to turn it over. Hope this helps.

It has sat for a while so corrosion is a posibility. I'm gonna lean towards the ground because I lose all power (lights, dash, everything) not just power to the starter. It started up and ran fine last week though. Maybe the ground is loose.

I got it. The ground was loose and corroded at the battery. I cleaned it up and tightened it all down. Starts up great now. Could a loose ground affect the coils at all? Last time out I had one of my Dyna coils stop on me, but after some shaking around on one cylinder, it fired up again. Could a loose ground create a drop in voltage sacrificing the power to a coil?

A loose ground or corroded ground could cause a million different problems.

One thing I live by is a drop or two of Automatic Transmission fluid on my battery cables. It soaks into the cable and keeps them clean and prevents corrosion.
