If you have the LE, you need to move the widshield up to get airflow...some guys have wrapped the exhaust to reduce heat as well.

Why compromise the windshield, you bought it why not use it. I added some 1/8" foam matting to the rear of the bed and overlapped it to cover the gap between the seat and the rear of the bed. The heat is coming from underneath and up between seat and bed. I just put over 100miles on mine this week and didnt even break a sweat. The foam also has the added bonus of toning down the noise from the intake. cover the hole around the seat belt also and you wont have anymore heat issue with or without the windshield. If you look at the other UTV's they have this area sealed off from the factory.

The bigger issue it the windshield is blocking the airflow through the CVT filter and out the back, this keeps the heat inside the cab. All you got to do is move the windshield up to allow the air to flow through the bottom...Only LE guys have had this issue.
The '09 windshield is placed higher to allow the gap at the bottom.

The 09 also has a neoprene heat blanket insulating the top of the engine.

The CVT has nothing to do with the airflow. True the windshield is blocking the forward airflow causing negative pressure inside the passenger area allowing all the engine and exhaust heat to be pulled back inside from behind the seats. I did try just moving my windshield up, didnt help much at all, but blocking off the airflow from behind the seats did. Thats fine if you guys want to take your windshield off, but I paid for it and I decided I wanted to use it, that's all.

I took my windshield off to solve the heat problem. When I had my windshield on, heat might have been coming from behind the seats, but for sure heat would pour out of the shifter knob area. So much so, you could not hold on to the metal part of the shifter. So I don't think behind the heat insulation would change that.
Having said that, with almost 100 hours on it now, I don't think it generates near the heat it did when it was new. With it now October, even in Texas, very early mornings it's getting a bit cool. I may put the windshield back on for the winter.
