I want to know everybodies problems that they're having with their Teryxs....just factory induced problems, gas pedal touchy, won't start, engine blew up? .............
I did not see anyone else with this, so I assume it's an annomaly (I hope). Brand new '09, stock except power steering. With only 2 hours on it, I took it on a trail ride with some friends. Taking it rather easy, just decended a wooded trail in the middle of no-where, and the thinks starts billowing steam from under the hood. After removing some plastic parts, find the hose from top of radiator was blown out where it attaches to metal pipe on passenger side. :scared2:Was able to stretch it down real tight to get the clamp over the hose damage, and not leak. Overflow tank was still 1/2 full so added bottled water to overflow tank, but the overheat light kept blinking, then the FI light starts comming on intermittently.
Here's the thing...can't get to radiator cap without taking the darn hood apart. That stinks, so you have to depend on an overflow tank for coolant delivery when low. Bad design in '08-'09. Coolant tank did not empty until cooled off later that day. Filled tank again, still temp. light is blinking.
Anyway, limped back to cabin, and loaded the Teryx up. So much for a day out. Dealer ordered a new hose, and will drain and fill coolant, and check over. I do not think anything is hurt, but my Teryx Pride.

No, I did not bleed the air out. I am not sure how to do so without getting to the radiator cap. I'm going to have the dealer take care of that when they replace the hose this week. For now, it's out of service.
I'm pretty sure the coolant recovery tank only adds water when the system cools down. So yes there was air in the system, lots of it. In a cases like this you need to remove the cap & fill the rad up. A hood that opens would be nice. A poor design for sure. Crow
I have a 09 Teryx, about 15 hrs into using it when the brakes started to fail
, not just the front but the rear as well, Brake Failure! I have had 2 dealers look at it they both tell me that I have air in the lines on 3 occasions, I say ok please bleed brakes thank you, now it's the 4th time taking it in with the same problem that brakes work then they don't. They are working about 60% of the time I have to quick pump it once then they work. Any suggestions?
When you lose braking do you pump them back up and they work? Do they keep working normally or do you have to keep pumping them back up? When you bleed them do they start working again?
I bleed them and they work great for about 15 minutes of ridding time, maybe 5-10 time of using the brakes then they fail, 1 pump gets them working again we ride around, use them again fail, pump 1 once good for a few more braking times, then fail pupm 1 time again they work. They fail whenever fast ride, slow into camp I have even rolled into my trailer from no brakes. Make no sence at all
Seized up. Fresh oil change took it riding for the weekend and it blew up on me. Checked the dipstick and wasn't even showing. Trying to get it fixed now.
Hey guys, I'm looking at getting the 09 teryx. I read through all of the pages and it seems that they have most of the same issues as the brute force, especially with the seals and what not.. Any other updates?
To fricken hot when doing slow speed work, well, its to hot always. Part of my problem is the full windshield, but it's not coming off. that and the body panels could of been built stronger. I have a few cracks on the bed panels, but I do do a lot of trail blazing. The plastic push pin thingys suck, don't know what is wrong with allen screws/bolts. Have 1 bolt that won't come loose holding my skid plate on. Needs a fuel gauge. Other than that, it's been good to me so far
I love the Treyx and have totally enjoyed mine since I purchased it 8 months ago. I will list my problems below. Luckily for me, I love to wrench on my toys.
Teryx Problems:
BRAKES SUCK!! I have installed atleast 5 sets of brake pads, but I mud alot..
(also had to replace one of the pistons in the caliper)
Cab heat gets hot here in Florida.
Push pins drive me crazy!!
rear oil seal leaks. replaced once already.
roof cracked and leaks due to not having braces
Have had overheating problems. (until I did the impeller and temp gauge)
Air Filter sucks. If you don't upgrade you will be rebuilding your motor.
But like I said, I ride mine like i stole something. So I can't complain.
The only problem I'v noticed in the 4 hours I have on my 2011 is pedal bounce. I zip tied 7 rings on the spring coming fromthe pedaL and it seemed to help. Might look into pedal extension. Other than that it runs like a bat outa hell.
have an 08 and havent had a single issue than what i have caused from driver error.
my dads 09 is all stock and hasnt had a single issue either. proper maintance is key.
Mine the entire mounting area on the rack and pinion exploded.
Now i did by it used and it could have been stressed and was something I didn't notice.
But i did drive it a couple times with no problems and on the 3rd real trip ( 4 day trip) the first day I hit a rock and the it exploded. Car sat
Now the other thing is I have wheel spacers and they will create greater stress on all items, more so than along travel kit.
Nothing maintenance would have prevented. Other than that I like my rig.
i suspect the previous owner may have done something like that and then the rock just put too much stress and boom. anyhow, no big deal and no ill thoughts about the previous owner. I just got a new part, upgraded as well, and it is back on the road.
i think with any of these rigs, 4X4 motorcycles , etc.. If you use them you will have items that need replacement.
well i have the 2010, so i have a fuel gauge, LOVE it, other than the belt. i hate all belts, i smoked one and only had it for two hundred miles. some say i was too hard on it, but drives me crazy i cant pull anything.
don't know what year your looking at, but, I have a fuel gauge, I have a speedo, have a temp light, and fuel injection. from what I understand, the 2010's had alot of fixes. the cooling system, the bed is reinforced, and the hood opens....
I wanted to get away from my rhino because it is carburated and too much cab noise. I bought my new 2011 tyrex Saturday and it is just as loud if not more so. There is a tremendous amount of heat from the console. I guess I will get used to it.
Still have my 2007 rhino.
Also more belt noise
Just bought mine and all my friends have rangers. They swear by them (THE RANGERS) but they are in the shop all the time. i needed an upgrade and picked the tyrex.
I tow with my 2010...I towed a big Polaris home with a 240 pound man on the back of it..and had a passenger as well...just had it in low....towed 2 bikes home that day....that's the thing I was told to do with Kawi's...use low if you're going to put stress on the belt...unlike a yamaha where you can just hammer it in high...mainly because they don't have the power that a Kawi has I'm assuming? Good luck so far!
