I want to know everybodies problems that they're having with their Teryxs....just factory induced problems, gas pedal touchy, won't start, engine blew up? .............
I have towed stuff all OVER Glamis...pulled full sized buggies out of the big bowls behind Oldsmobile...towed sand rails back to camp on Gecko from Olds...recovered stolen Teryx's and towed them back to the Ranger station...no BS these things can tow damn near anything...and the only belt problem I ever had was my own stupidity of trying to pull a hill 10 times in a row...So I am insure of why some of you say it won't pull anything...
I have pulled my 2wd Dodge 2500 out of the mud twice, and several SxS in the dunes and desert!
I haven't done much in the way of motor mods to my 2009 but last season I added throttle bodies, MSD, and a overdrive plate which was working great. I just took my Teryx in to the shop because i couldn't figure out why it seemed to lose power after a few minutes on the trail. Well come to find out i had a blown ring on the clutch case as it was full of oil and sand. $800 later i hope to pick it up today.
I have a 2014 TERYX 4 seater that the rear end will bang like it slipped out of gear or in gear when climbing in loose ground or snow and only going uphill , happens 4 out of 10 climbs , KAWASAKI does not have a clue and can not find any damaged gears
I have a 2012 Teryx 2 and adjusted valves until they can't be adjusted again, too much heat coming in the cab, hard on drive belts, too noisy, poor gas milage. engine braking lousy, starts jumping when rpm's get too low (Viking doesn't do this) replaced wheel bearings too often, needs better seals in the bearings. I could go on and on but this looks like enough.
LOUD! 4x4 engagement/disengagement is very balky, tranny is hard to shift and lots of gear/drivetrains noise.
It is a hoot to drive, though, and so far hasn't left me afoot.
Does anyone know if you can buy just the black plastic protector that goes on the factory 2012 shocks under the spring? It covers the shock rod.... I don't know what it is called.... I have one the has cracked and start breaking. Thanks again for all the help guys!
Most of these problems are fixed previous to my 2014. Like gas gauge, Push in plastic rivets, and a few others. I only have 800 miles on mine but don't really have any major complaints. Worst complaint would be the touchy gas pedal which I fixed by building a better setup with another pivot point. Second complaint would be its a little rough riding on slow bumpy trails, for aggressive riding its pretty good with the FOX piggy back shocks. Last complaint would be the engine braking system is pretty noisy inside the cab.
Does anyone know what the 2 tabs under your hood are for looks like where you would mount a fender brace but I haven't been able to find anything on it thanks
If you are referring to the two plastic tabs on the underside of the hood itself, on the original design they were for a metal hood brace that was deleted.
I have a 750 teryx and experienced a problem with the machine missing and backfiring after the engine got warm if i shout engine down and aloud it to cool this problem would go away any suggestions on what the problem maybe
my teryx has been in three shops for this issue and nobody seems to be able to fix it . it will crank and idle but when you give it a little gas it will skip and jump and sounds like the rev limiter . And according to the mmechanics , they have tried everything from the fuel filter / pump etc. to the ecu , all the sensors have been replaced or checked . I don't know where to go from here .
2014 with 5800 miles. Broke a floorboard early that kawi replaced, i promptly put on JBS guards as the retrofits hadnt started. Belt blew @ 4700 miles. Replaced original batter @ 5500 miles/4 years. 4x4 actuator @ 5600 miles and had to replace a plug boot that was corroded @ 5500. I have done other regular maintenace of course including tires/shocks and such.I suppose belts and battery are regular maintenace as well. All in all its been pretty solid.
I've owned 2, the only thing I can complain about is engine sound because it sits right under u, and heat in cab off engine, I can stand them 2 things for there known reliability, and class leading 3 year warranty
just bought 2008 teryx with 430 hours from a friend who had it for the last 1 1/2 year and had new timing chains put in about 4 hours ago. was hard starting and backfire occasionally and dies when idling. very noisy in what i thought was valve train. I adjusted valves and that ended backfire and some of the noise and runs better. still noisy but quiets some 15 seconds after starting but still the higher the rpm the noisier the chatter in the motor. someone took the plug for the timing marks out and replaced with a hose fitting and routed the crankcase ventilation hose with an tee in the line to the air box and dropped back into crankcase at that fitting.no oil in air box but seems to seep a little oil at that fitting after using. Is the noisy engine normal on this machine?
I wouldn't say that valve train/topend noise was common on a Teryx motor when things are right. Blowing oil into the airbox was fairly common on the 2008 model, so a lot of people added some form of siphon brake with a drain back to the crankcase.
Have a 2013 teryx4 750 love it . Was running fine came back from a ride parked it and now it will start and run for a few seconds then shuts off like it runs out of fuel . Fuel pump seems to be working fine . Some one told me it might be the rollover/tipover sensor . Where would this be located on this year ?
My terryx with tracks just brought up solid while driving managed to get it into neutral but it won't move when I put it in gear . Had to be towed to my house .
