Has anyone heard anything about the 18 model year? Maybe a 1000 perhaps?

It takes the Japanese producers a long time to catch up in the CC department, but Kawi is way overdue. Would like to see them jump in the big bore game this year.

I would think they would need to do something...damn, a true 900 at least, and not 883 or 875 and call it 900. A true 900 cc minimum. Hell, a 900 with about 75-80 hp and a good torque curve would be awesome. If Can Am can make 71 hp with decent torque out of their 800, then Kawi can do the same with a 900. Of course, i would prefer a 1000 mill, making about 90 hp. That would still be less than a RZR 1000 but would have a better torque curve. A Teryx 1000R haha!

Seriously, I wonder if they are limiting the power output because of the Teryx platform not being stable enough for such speed? It is a sport utility but it still sits high and has a high center of gravity IMO.

Let's keep this thread going. Thoughts, questions!

A big part of the reason I have a Teryx4 now is because it isn't a speed demon. Okay, well sort of. Money and overall size was an object too.

Seriously though, the real reason is because of it's trail abilities. I ride around some tight technical trails where maneuverability is needed more than straight-line speed. I bought a truck last year with the idea of turning it into a pre-runner. That was dumb since there are only one or two power line / fire roads near me to do any serious off-road speed. So the truck is now a crawler and I regret not buying a Jeep.

To me, a 100HP+ Polaris, Can-Am or Yamaha was going to be like the pre-runner idea. Fun as that would be, I need dunes to have any real fun with that kind of power.

At any rate, a little more power in the Teryx would be welcome. Mine is street legal and I have already bounced uncomfortably off the 50mph governor. I know there are ways to disable that, but we'll see about that after the warranty is up. Other than that, I can't say that anything in particular is something that I would be looking forward to in a new generation. Addressing teh heat and noise would certainly be appreciated! That's next on my list.

Rumor I heard was kawi has stopped production of the 2017 model. What's out there is what's out there. Dealers ordered what they ordered and no more are becoming available. So maybe a early 2018 release with something new. No doubt kawi is due for a higher cc motor just maybe not in the Teryx platform. Keep it the way it is and bring in a entirely new machine . Either a pure sport or a Polaris general equivalent with similar suspension travel and hp numbers

Being new to the UTV world, do manufacturers have concept vehicles or pre-production models like car manufacturers do or is it more like "Here's or new model that comes out next month."?

Concept and pre-production vehicles are closely guarded secrets! Sharp eyed observers have from time to time spotted "something different" with no graphics testing in locations like Glamis or Moab. There have been some pretty famous spy photos in the past. An RZR4 sitting in a warehouse,(2011?) and the side of a BRP semi trailer are two that come to mind.(I don't remember if that was the Commander or the Maverick) It seems that some of the leaks may be marketing, Yamaha is the most into releasing teaser videos-CLUTCH PEDAL!
