What clutch mods are everyone using? I have stock eng. dynatek cdi hmf dual slip-on. Should I do anything to the clutch?

Thanks

i just ordered the epi mudder clutch kit for mine. i had a kit in my eiger and it helped give it some of the off the line pickup it lost when i went to bigger tires. from what i understand, the kits raise your stall speed and grab harder, resulting in less belt slippage and generally longer life.

Here are our thoughts, and they come from weeks and weeks of testing at the track.

Kawi did a great job with the stock clutch AND belt. Unless you made changes to the engine or tires there is very little to be gained with a clutch kit. The Dalton plate will add top end to any configuration, it's simple math, so thats a guarantee.

The Dalton product in our opinion is the most usefull since it can be tuned to your particular needs. Others claim tunability but all they have is different springs. If you're loking to pick up those few extra tenths (which win races) the versatility of the Dalton is way ahead, since fly weight mass and mass location can be changed.

Dalton is the only one with this ability, the're sharp, it WORKS, and they patented it.

I agree with DJSinc1006. I love my Dalton Clutch Kit and Cap!

Much improvement in drivability due to much more positive clutch engagement and back shifting over stock IMHO.

I also have the Outlaw clutch kit, and the new dayco drive belt for mine, It is a little later comin off the line, but it has not effected the top end. Or at least it hasn't seemed to.

It will not change the top end unless you get a modded clutch cover. The Dalton Overdrive cover gives quite a few more MPH, even in L so that makes me very happy.

Cover? You mean the cover on the drive clutch? the little cover that has the bolts in it and the two guide dowels?

Yes the drive pulley (clutch) cover.

Here is a link to Dalton's page showing their Teryx stuff. I would never go back to the stock clutch and without the cover. The performance gains are WELL WORTH the $$.

Dalton Industries, Ltd. - ATV Products KAWASAKI

If you look at my youtube link in my signature, I have 2 vids on installing the clutch kit. I am still working on part 3 which is reassembly and riding testing.

This FAQ below was copied and pasted off Dalton's website.

FAQ- How will a clutch kit affect top end speed?
"Very little. The major thing to remember when clutching ATVs is that changing clutch components changes the rate of shift on the CVT system during the "clutching phase". The clutching phase is when the belt travels from low ratio to high ratio (high ratio is when the belt is to the top of its travel on the front motor clutch). The goal is to control the shift RPM properly during this clutching phase. On most ATVs this "clutching phase" is over in a distance of approximately 500-800 ft.-when the belt is fully shifted, it is fully shifted. There are a few situations where slighty different spring pressures will allow it to stay in high ratio easier on certain types of terrain, but effect on top mph is minimal."
