Welcome from Alabama! There are countless threads regarding this but Warn and Viper seem to be the most popular. No less than 4000 lbs, preferably synthetic line. You do need mounting plate unless you are willing to fab something.

Can't go wrong with the viper. I have the 5000 viper max and use it 3 to 4 times a ride pulling rangers, commanders and of course myself out lol. They hold up great. Just don't jerk on the syn cables, good way to spend another $80.

I bought a Smitty Built 4000Lb, price was awesome and it came with a 3 year warranty, if it breaks in that 3 years, I can return it and pay another $18 which will add an additional 3 year warranty to the replacement.. Can't beat that.

Warn 3500S

During the $50 rebate I purchased a ProVantage 3500S from my Kawasaki dealer with the Kawasaki mounting plate. Installation was a breeze and looks great. My goal was to install with winch without cutting any holes etc. I mounted the contactor under the dash cover with the other critical modules and routed the control switch wire out by the driver's A pillar. This allows easy access to the control switch even if you are standing beside the vehicle and easy access to the port to plug in the remote control switch. The hardware used is what is sent with the winch to mount the switch to handlebars of ATVs.

Thanks for the support of our VIPERS guys. I recommend WARN if you don't choose us. Even though they are a substantial competitor of ours, they have always been respectful and professional and I think they make good stuff.

We do have forum discounts for our VIPERS so PM me if needed. Thanks!
