Hey does anyone know where the hour meter gets its reading from the engine. Because mine show .2 and has never moved since I have owned it. I thought perhaps the wire came loose.

Accordong to the service manual, the hour meter is powered from two of the three black wires coming from the alternator. The hour meter only ticks off time when the engine is running. Leaving the key on does not run up the hours.

No it does not. Only when the motor is running.

the hour meter stays on and has an internal battery also. mine has been disconnected from the battery and all additional wiring for a few days. it only changes as the engine is engaged.

Is this internal battery something inside the dash computer or the meter itself that could be changed if and when it runs out?
