Try the Garmin nüvi 500 (300) with built in TOPO or the Lowrance XOG (149) but you will need Map Create (100) for the XOG. If you got the cash get the Baja 540C.

The two above are Hybrids they do both on and off road but for true off road I suggest the 540c, done a few in the dash.

Garmin Colorado. Already has Topo's built in and you can subscribe to satalite imagery if you like. Gonna get one as soon as the tax return is in.

Garmin Nuvi 550. This GPS is geared for off-roading and is waterproof. You can load TOPO maps as well customize the display for your needs.... I bought mine new from amazon.com for $270 (retails for around $500)

try a lowrance 540c. laser innovations out of anaheim has a pretty cool dash mount for it. if you run desert or go to the races you can download the course on your sd card and load it to the gps. this works for me anyway.

Baja 540c rocks! I got the side x side outfitterz rollbar mount for it to move it just above the dash and will allow me to still move it to my truck easily. No pic's on the site yet, but i'll try and download some soon. Just waiting for the hardwire power cord and I can button this thing up and go ride!

Is anyone running any of those smaller removable navigations (handhelds or something like it)??? I think the 540 is too rich for my blood plus I want a unit I can take out easily and put in my truck if I want to.. i just want something nice and simple were i can mark my favorite locations in glamis, octotillo wells etc....

Try the Garmin nüvi 500 about 300 bucks. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_150NUVI...00.html?tp=145
Lowrance XOG is 149. http://www.cabelas.com/link-12/produ...1019451a.shtml

I have used both and they both work well...

Garmin Colorado. Does it all. They make a cool mount for it to mount right on the roll cage and you can take it with you. Geocaching with the kids, offroading etc.

may ALSO want to search Ebay for " I WAY" 500c or 600c. KILLER GPS units with built in Mp3 player, EQ, works also as your stereo's head unit as well as full GPS unit. LTi is putting one in our T-rex project right now. The 500 retails for apx 800.00 I found one one ebay for 200.00 was also the more expensive 600 for 349.00 ONLY difference I'm told in the units is the over head gps images.... worth a look.
