I think that was said as a bit of a joke.

FOr most people the output of just converting the stock headlights with HID's will be more than enough light. Several people want more than they need. THese things will hardly outrun the light available in most cases. These are not Baja trophy trucks.

Trouble is, unless people actually see the difference they think they need more lights instead of more efficient light per watt.

HIDs perform this function very well.

So let me ask this.....

If I run my 4, 35 watt KC, HID's and run them without my stock lights on, would my system be able to keep up? Would that not be the same as the stockers on with 2 additional 35 watt lights?

Yes, IT should be OK. Keep in mind that the tail lights are 5w each (parking lights) and 20w each when brake lights are on. I have changed these to 1157 style LED bulbs to save some more watts. My Dome light is an LED, I have no stereo or other items at all.

Also, obviously do not turn them on all at once, wait 20 seconds or so for the first set to settle in at low draw. ANd I never turn them on without the motor running at all.

I think that would work. If you bought a charge guard then you would know exactly what you can do and what you can't and you would never run your battery down.

Go over to our site and look at and then read the tech article on it. I love mine.

NIce piece, and I might look into that down the road this summer.

Along with your AFR meter.

Well I talked with Ricki Stator today they do not have a stator yet and do not plan on having one any time soon. I am still talking to the guys at ace alt. to see if the can make some thing. Will keep you informed.

I goofed a while back. I said that Rickey Stator made a 400 amp stator. After Todd said maybe forty, I checked the new DirtWheels Magazine and I got my amps and watts mixed up. I didn't see anything for the Teryx, but noticed that they offer an external 500 Watt charging systems for Rhinos.

They do offer that but it does not last long, alternators don't like dirt and water.

I called kawie customer service, asked them to look up what the charging system was rated for, the answer is 24.6 amps at 14.4 volts, power = voltage x amperage, so the charging system should be good for about 350 watts. deduct 70 watts for stock head lights, I = P/E so the stock lights draw 4.6 amps, then there is the electronics, plus all other lighting, and the radiator fan, plus the resistance of wiring, we are probably left with between 10 and 13 amps available for after market lighting. this is all in theory of course, but you should be able to run at least two 35 watt HID, plus change the stock lights two HIDs, the charging system should be able to handle it. I have a 42 inch vision x led light bar which draws 11 amp according to the manufacturer, and i changed the stock lights to vision x HID bulbs, i will take some voltage readings after work and see what kind of voltage drop im getting.

ok, with engine running and no load voltage reads 14.8 volts, which is perfect, with HID head lights on, voltage dropped to 13.4, with the 42 inch led vision x light bar, voltage dropped to 12.08, which is probably not enough to keep the battery charged and run all of the lights at the same time, so your stock head lights plus a maximum of three HIDs as Baja designs suggested, or change the stock lamps to HIDs and add two additional hids, you should be able to run either one of these combinations and still charge the battery.

LIke I stated earlier in this thread 4HIDs in any combination, will be OK, the poor rhino's do it all the time every time, this system is a little better.

BTW the 42" LED pulls 11 amps

4 HID's should be around 11.66 amps
