Lift kit or long travel kit

I've been looking into doing a long travel kit or a lift kit. Other then the obvious cost difference what else is there. I don't don't do a lot of rock crawling mostly trail and some mud. Would it be safer to go with a lift like catvos or gorilla stage one. I have the 2011 red model 12" ITP black wheels with 27" bighorns. I'm not looking to get bigger tires or wheel. I love the wider stance the long travel kit gives but would it be useless in the mud? Also I would like to have a bit more clearance. What do you guys think?

Lift kit - more ground clearance only. Will not add stability or travel.
Long travel - added stability, increased wheel travel and depending upon set up possibly some more lift.
Which is better? Depends on what you plan to do. I have run rocks, snow, dirt, some mud in both stock and MT configurations - they both work fine, the MT was smoother riding.

Thanks blue coyote I'm still on the fence. Of course I don't Kiel spending the big cash for the long travel but if it makes a smoother ride and stability seems like it has more going for it the. Just a lift.

I put a Garilla stage one lift on my 08 and was very dissapointed with the ride quality. the lift changed the angle of the shocks(stood them up more) So I set the LE shocks to ther lowest settings still way to stiff (not happy) I even took one adjusting nut out of the rear shocks and the steped adjusters out of the fronts. Made it softer but not much and I lost almost all of my lift hight. (not happy) So I bought a set of used sport shocks put them on ( at ther factory settings) still way to stiff . so I set the shocks at ther lowest settings (comp. and damp. springs) all the way out . It was much better but I lost most of my lift hight (again) still not happy .Better (softer) ride than LE shocks but only 1 inch of lift. so I made some modifications to the lift kit and now I have over 17 inchs of clearance front and back (leval) shocks springs set at ther lowest possible settings. Damp. and comp, settings almost all the way out. The suspention is so plush. (0 to 25 mph.) medium and rocky trails. Dont have Dunes in Mi. only trails and lots of mud. Before I could not get the wife to go for a ride ( off road ) and now I can't get her out of the drivers seat LOL. Very sorry for the long rant. I have wanted to give my 2 cents on these ( over priced ) lift kits. These kits only give lift and a very siff susspention. thanks

Thanks man. That does help in a guys decision of purchasing these lifts. From the sounds of it is much rather a long travel kit although I mostly do trail and so mud. I want the ride feel and look to be what I'm looking for and I don't think I'm willing to trade high for comfort.
