Question Shock covers?

"Big Red" will be my first off-road vehicle and I wanted to ask whether it was worth getting any shock covers? If yes, know anyone good?

There's a shop on ebay selling them for $25 but they want $9 for postage. Must be a better deal out there. Or should I just buy some neoprene, velco and make my own?

my experience with them is that they scratch up the springs and hold the heat in making the shock less efficient

I had a set on a BF and I ended up taking them off,I think the stock setup works pretty good.
