Just going to paint the welds. Possibly having a custom cage built in the future. Maybe just a bit shorter than this one, and leaned in a bit at head level.
Btw, after cutting and setting the stock one back on, I wish I had cut another inch and a half out. |

nice!
Did the angle's of the bars line right up after you cut out a few inches? I've been considering doing a stock cage chop or having a local race car cage builder do me one from scratch. I like looks of the stock cage, but I'd like it to be a touch shorter. |

They all lined up pretty good, I honestly made the first cut on the drivers rear bar, and didn't pay enough attention and got it too close to the first bend so my stub wouldn't go as far up as I intended, but don't tell anybody. I got the stubs down the the bottom first, and ground on them until a piece I had cut off would slide on each tube very easily, since putting all six in place at once would be hard enough, I didn't want to have to fight it on. With help it only took a couple minutes to line all six up, then maybe another five minutes to get the whole thing seated. I put 1/4" bolts through them for now, and I'm supposed to have it welded this weekend, I'll post a couple pics when it's finished.
This was three inches, and I wish I had done at least four, something to look at if you plan on doing yours. I still have more than enough head room at 6'2", and the front bar is still not in my line of sight. |

I cut 3" out of the front and 5" in back. Looks a lot better for now until I build a new cage. I'm 6'4" and fit fine. My cousin and uncle rode with me at glamis and there 6'5"-6'6". Not a lot of room left but they weren't hittin there heads.

Here's mine, I did 3" front and 5" rear. I'm 6'4' and I wouldn't go any more than that. Actually, I get it back from the repair shop this weekend and I'll be chopping it again, same amount. Hopefully this works.
