Tire/lift

Hello my father and I purchased a treyx 4 about a month ago. we do mostly muddy terain areas with some reg trail ridding. Were in the market for some better tires and a lift . What are some good tires and size to look at and those we should stay away from? we were planing to put some silver backs but people say you will snap axles so we kinda don't know what to get? we Will be going with a catvos 3inch lift kit some time in the furture.also how weak are the axle's on these bikes?

Read the other treads but you can fit up to 30's and I would run radial laws or some terminators

Thank you for the response. Yes I have read the other threads on tires but I really don't know what trails people are riding on so I decided to post it up with a few questions. Btw where is the best place to buy tires cheap ?

Atvoutfitters always has great prices on tires. The catvos lift is s great choice also.

1320,

I too will be installing 30" silverbacks shortly. I had them on my brute force and never had a problem. Of course you will need a lift kit or I would suggest one. Some have 30's with no lift, but under tight turns or suspension flex I would think it would rub.

There is not guarantee anytime you modify these or any bikes, but being an experienced rider in mud I had never had a problem when just riding at a normal to mid aggressive pace.

I have like many others torn up parts when I tried to make the bike perform beyond its means. Usually liquid courage was involved at these times.

Hope this helps.

The part where you said ya'll did some muddy terrian and regular trail riding would steer me clear of silverbacks.

The only way I would run silverbacks if I was in a deep mud hole 99% of the time. They are heavy as hell and ride rough, and will kill your power and fun for faster trail riding.

Maybe a milder mud tire like a Mayhem, an Uber Pitbull, or a radial Spartacus would be better? Good luck, there are tons to choose from.

You need to do a clutch kit to help keep power and speed. I am running 29.5 outlaws on offset beadlok 12" rims with 3" catvos lift. I just bought a 2012 camo teryx. All stock motor. I had no problems at Hillarosa mud park this weekend. And the trails were fun also. But I will do a clutch kit next.

Thank you all for the replies. And yes, I do some reg terrain to get to the muddy stuff so maybe some mudzilla to be a little safe.

Mudzilla is no a bad choice, although I think there are some much better ones out there. The Mudzillas are heavy, and the tread blocks lie radially, which I feel digs in to much, so they arent even that great in the mud.

Just shop around, there are so many tires out there to choose from these days it will make you crazy, especially if you keep a 12" rim.

I would look at Zilla's (not mudzilla's, maxxis zillas) They are LIGHT. Easily the lightest mud tire out there. And do really well in the mud, but still ride smooth on the trails. And again, they are LIGHT so you dont have to worry as much about breakage like w/ heavy aggressive tires i.e. backs, laws, etc...
