I don't know about the motor but I think it does stress the belt, i blew mine a couple of years ago on a run from Stoneman Lake to Mormon Lake on the highway. I was constantly bouncing off the rev limiter and on the run back it got really warm and boom!

Also very interested to know the answer to this...guess it is all the more reason to get a reflash on the ecm.

IDK, but it would bother me to keep hitting it.

Absolutely not that is why it is there, as far as the belt it does not effect it, the way you take off and accelerate will put stress on the belt but hitting the speed limiter does no harm at all.

I don"t think it hurts anything hitting the rev limiter but it sure is annoying listening to it.Thats why I had my ECU reflashed.I usually run between 50-55 tops so I"m not revving the engine all the way.Hit 60 one time and let up.

The limiter is just that, protects your engine from over reving. I'm not keen on reflashing your ecu. I would do some clutch work to get more top and low end if that's what you need. Your motor will last longer. Just my 2cents.

Does the speed limiter turn on and off the fuel pump to keep it below 51mph? I would think that is not good to eff witht the flow of fuel while driving consistently.

I am not sure but it feels like a soft touch rev limiter. They usually chop the injector pulse width as well as spark. This motor makes it very easy to hit the limiter its a good running v twin

What does it mean to reflash the ECM? What does it do and how much does it cost?
