TERYX4 Recall

I've read several posts on this site about the steering column coming out/loose off of units. I went on the Kawasaki site to check it out. If you look on the left side of the site, click on Owners Information. A screen pops up where you can enter your VIN# and it will tell you if your T4 is subject to this recall. Unfortunately, mine is. Along with the steering column fix, there's also a recall to have the front brake calipers adjusted. They say to sit tight while Kawasaki figures out what to do, but someone already put a link on here that shows the repair. I can't believe the dealer I bought from was allowed to sell me the unit with a recall in effect! And I was driving around with my three year old grand daughter in it!!!!!!

What's interesting is I dropped mine off today to get some major repairs done and I asked them to check the computer for recalls. They ran the VIN and nothing at all came up. This was as of about noon eastern time. I will call back next week to ask them to check again but anyone who has a dealer that does find these in their system please post details. Thanks

The mechanic at my dealership, who's also in charge of recalls, said he checked this morning at 9:00am MST and didn't see anything. He checked again when I called at 1:00pm and said he saw the recall on his computer. He said they just issued it today.

Is the dealer able to fix this issue now? The letter says they are in the process of manufacturing repair parts.

I am in the same boat. I just picked mine up last Saturday and only got to take it out once. I asked the dealer if there was any recalls on it before I picked it up and they said no. I got car seats in the back of mine with my 4yr daughter and my 1 1/2yr old son and I am also concerned. When I took it out I was driving pretty slow with my young son in there, but losing steering don't sound good.
On the flip side I am glad mine is on the list because I can get it fixed and have a piece of mind. There are also going to extend the warranty for 6 months so that is not a bad deal.

I've had mine over 60mph a bunch of times, and have wheeled nearly every trail in Moab with it, including Pritchett...my abuse smoked a rear diff and a rear shock...zero steering or brake problems tho...but I have certainly pounded my T4 far more than most folks.

Glad they are doing a recall tho instead of ignoring an issue...I know companies that ignore that stuff as long as possible...aggressive repairs is FAR better than the alternative.

Last step of my purchase today was "I can't sell the unit to you" part of the prep was to check for Service Bulletins and there was one for a "Recall", so the unit is still at the Dealer.

We should take pictures of the bottom of each of our T4's and have a friendly wager My passenger last weekend used the phrase "That cant be good for the frame" multiple times. I only know one way to ride and it sounds like you are the same. Ride hard!!!

scratches on the bottom of your T4 only show poor tire placement. haha

My vin is in this Teryx 4 recall. I have about 2,200 miles on my Blue Teryx 4 with EPS. I'm easy on it and no problems so far. You can check your vin number here on the Kawasaki web site. Outstanding Recall Repair:TERYX4 STEERING AND BRAKES

Welcome to Kawasaki.com

I talked to my dealer today. Since the recall just came out today, they said it may be next week before they can even check to see if the parts are being thought of. Then they have to wait and see if they can fix it with parts they have on hand (bolts, cotter pins, etc) or if Kawasaki will be sending parts. I'm feeling this could take a while!

teryx4 recall

I just bought my teryx 4 yesterday. waited a week for it to come in and now was at the dealer for two hours waiting to see what the recall was and after all that the manager said i couldnt take it home, and he would have to send it to me.
Are the recall problems going to take a while to fix or will it be fixed by the 4th of july. Really hoping to ride this machine.

Oh how I wish they were only scratches

I just finally got a chance to put my VIN in the system and read the recall and boy does this look like we are going to be out of commission for a long time. They say "our manufacturers are working quickly to resolve the probelm" meaning they dont even have the answer yet let alone shipping parts. I would be shocked if parts are shipping and available any time in the next month or two. I hope I'm wrong but the wording really sounds this way Oh well. Kawi is obviously looking at this as very important and clearly trying to avoid litigation which is the right move considering a lose of steering is already hapening to some folks. Fingers crossed these parts start shipping soon!

Talked to the dealer this morning. They already started making call outs to all owners and cannot sell anymore until the fix is in place. They don't know what the fix is yet and for that reason have no idea about the timing.

The Canadian website doesn't have anywhere to find out about recall information, and I tried entering my VIN in the US website, but it isn't valid. I guess I'll have to call the dealership when they open.
I guess Kawasaki Canada isn't as worried about lawsuits as in the US!

To this point.. I think we are all on this list. The original recall that someone posted a few weeks ago regarding the ball joints etc I believe is totally different. I think kawi realised this is a bigger problem. I was not on that list but I am on this one. Anyone who checked the previous list I would check again. I think this is a full recall of all units. I dont have proof of this but that is what it looks like

I made the list too!

First off I feel bad for all of you who can't pick up your units because of the recall. Nothing worse than deciding to buy something and someone telling you that you can't have it yet.

I've got over 2000 miles on my t4 with zero issues on it an I'm not easy on it!

I would think the decision to issue a recall from a manufacturer is never an easy one! The fact that they did it now wile still developing parts is far better in my opinion. I'm one of those guys that likes as much info as possible to make my decisions and if kawasaki says hay be careful wile we work on this it's something good in my book Odds are its a very small percentage of units that are affected by this that could have triggered it and we may never know someone with the issue but it sure is cool of kawi to step up early and solve the problem rather than all of us having an issue down the road.

Well said Mike, I like you use my machine to the fullest meaning I'm not very easy on it. But also like you I service it as needed and check certain items to try and prevent as many problems as possible also.

I think it is very cool of Kawie to put the word out that they are in the process of a fix. It only takes a handful of units that have problems and the manufacture is jumping all over it.

Thats great they are issuing a recall, but I will be damned if I am going to let the thing sit for months as I wait to get parts to fix it.

I will continue riding, of course I won't be jumping dunes or anything but I will be riding creek beds and the like.

Hope the parts get here soon.

Nothing about this in Canada, my dealer said there is no recalls on the T4 here. I am not going to trust just one dealership, I'll check around, I planned on going for a ride tomorrow too!

Speaking of steering column, does the wheel adjust up an down or no? P.s. I won the voting of the T4 contest. I will know if I actually won on the 3rd of july and public will know on the 9th.

I just heard back from another dealership, my VIN is on the recall list for the brake calliper and the steering assembly. Said they will order the parts on Tuesday, now how long will it be before I can ride again? I just took it out on my driveway, and there is no clunk or anything when I turn the steering full lock to full lock. Should I go out tomorrow or not?
