5000 lb. badland winch

Picked up a 5000 lb badland winch from hf for $185 with a 2 yr replacement warranty. I don't know how it will hold up but for the price, its a can't loose. It came with a universal mounting plate that none of the holes lined up with my t4. I removed the front skid and drilled new holes in the t4 to match the provided plate. The winch fit like a glove. Perfect clearances. The front skid does interfere with the roller fairlead so I just left the skid off. I haven't decided if I will notch it or just leave it off. It does collect a lot of mud behind it. Initial quality of the winch seems pretty good. I attached some pics.

Re: 5000 lb. badland winch

A buddy of mines dad bought one of those 5 or 6 years ago and abuses the hell out of it and its still going strong. He said the same thing that he wasn't expecting a lot but has been really pleased with it.

That's the same one I run on my 2012 T2 only I have mine on a front receiver hitch mount so I can unplug it and use it from the rear as well...

I had one of these winches and will say, it was one of the hardest pulling winches I have ever seen. Now the down side. You can no longer gets most parts for the winch. I broke the free spool knob and they said they are not providing parts for the winch. Pretty much told me I was screwed!!!

I have the 3500# model. For the price you can't beat it and if it goes out after the warranty just replace it with a new one for $200. I have used mine a couple of times and was damn impressed, felt like it worked just as good as the more expensive ones.

I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself but I broke the plastic freespool knob off of my 5000lb Badlands winch as well but I used some Gorilla and crossed my fingers... That was 3 months ago and it's held great so far!

Re: 5000 lb. badland winch

Good to hear these reviews about this winch. Considering this one myself. I typically research stuff I want to buy to death and I have found all great reviews on this one. Thanks for the confirmation..

Made it work

I used the winch plate for the badlands winch. I welded the rollers to the plate and just raised it to clear the skid plate. The winch itself has plenty of power.

I purchased my BL 5000 lb winch about a year ago and have been very happy with it. I had it placed on the bottom of the front bumper but got tired of diging it out of the mud when I needed it. So I built a brush guard and placed it on top of the bumper. Now it does not get covered in mud
