Low budget spare tire and carrier

I needed a spare tire and mount so I went full cheap. I just need to make it out of the Maine wilderness if I flat. I bought an ITP steel wheel and budget 26x9-12 tire. I got a spare tire mount to modify here:
Trailer Spare Tire Carrier - Save on this Spare Tire Carrier
I welded an extension to match the Teryx bolt pattern and weld the wheel bolts in place.
This is what it looks like installed

2014 Teryx4 LE with Kawasaki Brushguard, EMP glass windshield for winter, Moose Utility folding windshield for summer, horn kit, LED Back up lights, Spare tire and mount, Muzzy ECU, 20" and 50" LED Lightbar, Custom overhead stereo with MTX Universal Bluetooth Receiver And Rockford Fosgate Punch Amp, Wake Board speakers, Dome light, Venom 5000 lb winch, Denali Pro Plow 72"

I did the same thing with the ITP wheel and tire. A little heads up though, the ITP wheel I got had the lug holes for 10mm studs. Had to be drilled out to fit, so you may want to check fit before you need to use the spare.

Yes, Uturn, I had to drill out the ITP rim bolt holes as well. I'm very happy how secure the rim has been after a fairly rough ride yesterday.

Welded one up last weekend. Looks good but wasn't sure how it would ride. Glad to hear that people are having success with this location.

Went for a couple short rides just down the back roads and it seems to bounce a lot. It is bolted tight but still bounces. Thinking of shortening the mount so tire actually sits against roll cage. Any suggestions will help.

Is the tire bouncing around or the mount? I welded a piece of metal on the bracket where the rim mounts to the bracket. Then I drilled holes to line up with the rim. My neighbor used the top hole on the mount then turned the rim and then drilled a new hole for the second bolt. I hope this helps you. When I used the mount as it was, I had the same problem as you.
Did you use the Harbor freight mount? The bracket on the passenger side of the roll cage needs to be turned around or use shorter bolts. because the bolts run out of threads. I'll post a picture for you. Both mine and my neighbors machine are fine.

Pictures would help out. I can't picture what you are describing. My bracket is custom - not harbor freight. I think the bounce is coming from the weak cage. The weight of the tire is to much for it. If I push and pull on the tire while it's mounted I can see the two bars of the cage flex.

I hope you are going to shorten those bolts, when your getting bounced around on the trails they could leave someone with a nasty gash or hole in their head. Looks good otherwise.

I'm going to shorten these bolts if I don't like the bracket I'm making to hold my scissor jack here.

I ran one of these a couple years ago. After, several rides the welds broke loose from all the wiggling around.
The tire and part of the mount left the vehicle while going down the trail. Luckily the wife seen it go or i probably would have lost the new wheel and tire.

Fabed up a hitch mout carrier with a bracket to hold it tight inthe receiver. Its not going anywhere now.

I finally got my rotopax and finished my tire/gas/water carrier. I went for an 85 mile night ride tonight and it held up nicely.
