Well we went up to ride this past Sunday in Waterloo at the sand pits. And as soon as we unloaded the DNR came over checking tags and said they don't allow UTVs to ride there or any of the state's OHV parks. So we're SOL. They didn't have a reason really as to why, but that's the rule.
So I guess I'll just stick to tooling around home...
Thats what the rule board next to the gate into the park said. "Only OHV's in the park." But the DNR guy wouldn't let us ride. Well the head DNR guy came and was a dick to my buddies, while I was out tooling around on my buddy's 400ex. They basically made them load it up.
My understanding is that many National Forest its illegal to be over a certain weight and 50in wide. Many ATVs are actually over the weight. Here in Louisiana most any public riding area is technically closed to utvs.
However, many more private establishments have opened in TX, OK, LA & AR. Plus you can still ride in most of the public land in OK & AR.
Really, most governments would prefer that no one ride anything on public land!!! Some places are starting to realize that this is a valid source of income and in those areas, they can change the rules.
