huge stick broke off INSIDE the tire...wow

Went riding this weekend. Typical woods/trail riding. Pulled off a fairly long section where speeds never exceeded 5-10 mph. Hit some pavement got on the gas and immediately knew I had a rear tire down. Went to inspect it and found slime all over the fender wells and see the green trail behind me...must be a pretty big hole. It was...I could stick two fingers in it...great.

Took the tire to the shop to see if it could be saved and this is what they pulled out! How in the hell does a stick that large go in and break off??

The guys at the tire shop said were pretty amazed.

The strangest thing I have ever seen come out of a tire was a 16'-20' piece of 3/8" rebar. I was at a local college auto shop using the tire equipment to install and balance new tires on my truck and a guy stopped by and asked the instructor if he could repair the hole in his tire, the instructor had one of the students check the tire and start removing it and that is when he found the stick of rebar wrapped around the wheel like it was string.
