2010 Camo Teryx...want new tires/wheels

Hey guys, first time posting here. I'm picking up my new Teryx next week and I've already gotten the itch to put a new set of tires/wheels on it. I've read the thousands of threads regarding the best tire, but I wanted to ask some specific questions/give specific examples of my needs...hopefully someone can help me out.

My Teryx will be used for about 60% hunting (waterfowl, mostly) and 40% recreation (trail riding...a little mud...piddling around my neighborhood as well). The hunting can get pretty tough...water, mud, sloughs, creeks, etc. I had a Honda Rincon with 26" Outlaws MSTs...liked them...they would pull like crazy...they were also messy...they threw mud EVERYWHERE.

I'm looking for a good all-around tire...something that will pull in the mud, be comfortable on the trails, and also be somewhat comfortable on asphalt (for my neighborhood), although that will only be about 5% of my "riding" (over to neighbor's house to drink beer...haha).

I've read a lot of positives on the Bighorns...good looking tire and gets great reviews...a little concerned on how they would handle the Mississippi Delta (mud, sloughs, etc.).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Kris

I live in south Louisiana and have an 08 camo and pretty much ride in the same conditions you have. I put 28x9" 589's on 12x7 itp212 black rims all around. The tire is a little heavier than I'd like but it is ok. Pulls like a mother and they have a reputation for lasting forever....My machine is mostly hunting so ride was not to much of an issue. The 589 gives you that little hop at crawling speed but once you get going it is fine with the great suspension these things have. All I know about bighorns is what I have read on this forum. I know people who have Mudlite XTR's and Zilla's and love them. Both are supposed to be great all around tires. If I had it to do over, I probably would do the Zilla's just because of the weight but I am happy with what I have.

I have the same bike as you. I just put 27-12-12 rear Mud Machine Tri claws and 27-9.75-12 Bi claws on mine. I've only been out a couple of times so far, but I think I'm going to love them. They ride as good as factory tires I took off, and will eat in the mud. Good luck.

I run 28x12x14 Mud Lites all the way around on mine. No clutch kit, no spacers needed, turn them in the thick mud just fine. Good trail tire too. One of the lightest mud tires on the market. ITP rep. told me 18 psi in them would carry 1,000 lbs per tire with no problems.

running 28x12x14 mudlite all around on 2010 TEREX, lots of deep swamp blackjack mud, also a little trail and roads on hunting property, love them, lite weight, easy steering and great traction. awsome tire. mounted them on itp 14" rims.

Go with 27/10/12 Kenda Executioners on all 4 wheels. I would not use Bighorns for Bogs and Marshes. Got a friend who runs them on his Ranger XP and they are awesome for what you will be doing.

ITP BajaCross are great tires. May not be great in heavy mud, but with 8-ply they are the most durable out there. I run similar to you with hunting and trails and around the hood on pavement. So far, I can honestly say they are one of the best tires I have had on an off road vehicle. They are heavy at around 50lbs with the rim, but the Teryx can push them well.

Out!
