CV axle boots

Has anyone ever used a heavy duty zip ty to replace the metal boot band talked to my dealer and mechanic said that is what they do all the time any info wod be appreciated

I would be concerned that you could get a zip tie tight enough. Replacement metal bands and the tool to tighten them are pretty cheap and the procedure is easy.

I would think a zip tie repair would be an emergency, out on the trail fix. Like using electric contact cleaner and electrical tape to temporarily fix a torn CV boot.
