Maybe Glamis is trying to tell me something

Well, I think this is the 5th year in a row that I have gone to Glamis and met up with guys I met through this forum yesterday, February 13, 2015. I met up with a bunch of guys in wash 15 and during the heat of the day it probably was around 85 degrees. We were still waiting for people to come in, but I went for a run over to Olds and then to the drags and then back to Wash 15. I had some temp issues, but I've had them under control going to a triple pass stock radiator and adding an oil cooler. My temps during my run never got over 215 and mainly stayed at about 210 running a modest pace through the dunes. However, I did notice that my radiator overflow bottle had filled up, but the temps mainly stayed at 210, but cooled down when I just cruised home via sand highway. Now cruising down sand highway, I noticed that my rear end was a bucking bronco all the way back to camp. Once at camp, I noticed that both of my rear shocks had mostly likely blown seals because both springs and suspension arms were covered in oil and sand. So I decided to stop driving it and shut it down for the night. Here is a shot of slice of paradise.

Spent the night in the tent and slept just okay. It seems like Mexican Polka music and tuba until about 3am, are not exactly conducive to a good nights sleep. I had planned to stay until Sunday night, but I decided that just hanging out, not driving my Teryx and another night in the tent wasn't going to workout so I came home. It was good to see Marty(Desertdog615), Marcelo (5150), Josh (Ali Baba) and a couple of others. I was sorry to miss Aaron and Jason (DaHarp). I'm going to have to revisit my next Glamis plans.

A tent?! How luxurious! I usually just throw an air mattress on the trailer!

I don't fault people for having a good time until 3am. If it is what they came to the desert for, and they clean up after themselves, then so be it. But it does completely annoy me. I like my desert time quiet (except for the Muzzys!) so I have found going out the weekend after a holiday weekend to be just right.

It might not have been the trip you were hoping for but shocks are an easy rebuild and at least you got out there. The only thing I did with my teryx this weekend was start it up and plugged in a 12v compressor to inflate a football after my garage compressor took a dump.

Nothing says "shots!" like Tejano music. Maybe you should drink more.

I agree with Bob, you could be like us Pete and not be able to get out there at all. Works getting in the way of play time. Glad you got to enjoy some seat time, and nobody got hurt, we know some of your other mishaps. My cousin actually got out there this year and askued if you guys were doing something and I told him I did not know, he would have enjoyed the riding. Take care guys and ride safe.
