2020 Teryx 4 Camo - Slow Build Thread

So I just picked up a new Teryx 4 in camo. Or rather had her dropped off since I haven't found the right trailer yet. Won't be much riding for a few months yet so keeping my eyes peeled for the right deal. So far I've driven her from the tow truck into the garage. Barely fit in the garage too, had to have someone stand on the back to drop the roof height by a half inch...

Primary use is exploring, hunting, and fishing. We tend to go out for anything from 1-12 days at a time. I previously had a Honda Pioneer but needed something that could haul the wife and the kids too. T4 seems to fit the bill. Not really partial to the camo but meh, if it keeps my rig a little more blended in out in the sticks I'm ok with that. Supposedly it doesn't scratch as easy and the roof along with the extra LED headlights seemed worth it.

Anyway, hello from Alaska. The riding is pretty killer up here and there is some epic country to get lost in.

In regards to the fuel vent mod, I followed the vent line over to the (evap?) canister under the driver seat. Does it go anywhere from there? I did some searching and the conversations seem to die out once the canister was introduced. Is there still a vent that needs to be extended? Thanks

I have been wondering about this very same thing. I also have the canister, and I also cannot find anything to say whether or not the vent mod is still needed. I have to admit, it has affected my riding enjoyment worrying about this (a little bit...) when riding in big groups and it's really dusty.

Only thing I heard about it is if yours has a canister it's set and don't need the vent mod / filter

Congrats on that new Teryx T4 nothing better enjoy / B safe

We bought our 2018 new and it had the canister. Have had zero problems with any issue related to fuel tank venting.

Thanks for the welcome and quick replies!

As for another operability mod, it sounds like the JBS radiator guards are a good way to go. Apparently they deflect mud from building up on the radiator thus causing overheating issues. Iím going to wait until I get a winch setup and then might make my own own guards. More to come on that.

Congrats. I have '18 Camo like yours. It hides scratching very well which is great cause everywhere I go in Wa is brushy it seems. No vent mod here either. Headlights are pretty good overall. Do the reverse light mod, you have the wires waiting in back! I did cheap TSC led light, works well enough. Also I have never had issue with lots mud in Rad. I do read bout southern boys n their clay mudholes complaining some but I don't think its a big concern imop.

I really like the camo. Still looks the same as the day I bought it in 2015

Got the winch installed today. Warn VRX35 (3500lbs) with a KFI mount plate. Everything fit well with the exception of one of the electrical studs on the winch. It was contacting the bumper. I trimmed the stud with a dremel and cutting wheel. Used the spot on top of the fan shroud to mount the solenoid.

Looks real good. I have a reminder to all with winch contact so close to bumper avoid hitting bumper too hard so it doesn't shove back into a Batt hot possible situation. Accidents happen, I have bent a bumper to the radiator! Always check that spot after a good thump...Safety first.

Forgot to add; for the accessory power, I tapped into the 12VDC plug on the passenger side.

The VRX 35 did not come with a remote control but I had one from a Superwinch brand setup on my old rig. I spliced this directly into the back of the rocker switch on the dash. That way I have a 5' remote to operate the winch while standing outside the cab. For that one time when your stuck in a mud hole with no one to control drawing up the slack in the line.

Yea we yard sale'd a Honda Foreman 500 down a hill once. When we got to the bottom the rider was walking around in a daze and the winch was shorted ON, the motor just burning as it tried to winch in a line that was already fully spooled up.

Nice looking machine! I have the blue, wish I had the camo. When your 4wd starts giving you an issue get the manual kit. Can't wait to see pics from your first adventure!

Alaska? Alaska guy here also with a 2016 Camo T4 and I use it for mostly hunting and fishing and exploring Eureka and Denali highway area. She's hauled out plenty of Caribou and Moose already and I can tell you that it works pretty awesome. I do however have a 2' lift, 2" wheel spacers, 30" Interforce Tires and a VFJ stage 2 Springs and weights. I installed a roof rack too and that helps a ton. I live in Palmer if you ever need anything.

Got the rear bump seat installed. Looks like a great quality product. Not sure how long it will be before my kids outgrow it but I'll rock it for as long as possible.

My buddies Viking overheats a lot, initially due to mud build up in the radiator and cascaded to other problems from there. At this point I think we need to change the fan on it.

Anyway, I decided to be proactive and make some radiator mud guards for the Teryx. they don’t look as fly as the JBS guards but I think they’ll do.
Kept the drivers side guard short so I could easily unlock the winch to free spool.

I got the pipe clamps on amazon for like $12 and had the plastic and bolts laying around. Side pieces are just zip tied. It’d be nice if the pipe clamps and bolts were black but they are stainless and won’t rust.
