I have a '08 Teryx that i am getting ready to put a sound system in. The plan is to go with the direct ipod to amp setup (don't need/want a head unit) via a kit from dunertunes.com. I also picked up pair of upper kick panel 6.5" SSV speakers and have a 8" bazooka sub to put in the bed (2 seat fastback cage setup).

I am considered adding a speaker bar from utvunleashed.com to be mounted to the cage above and slightly behind the two seats.

Has anyone used/heard the speaker bar from them before? Good or bad when combined with solid set of front co-ax speakers and a sub?

I am powering the system with a Rockford Fosgate 4 channel (110w X4) amp (RF 851x). It is not a marine amp which worries me somewhat but I am looking for advice on where to mount it where it has the best chance of surviving. The amp measures 10"w x 15"long x 2" h.

Suggestions? Thanks for the help.

I am not sure if you are looking for sounds while you are cruising around camp or hanging out but when you are running hard you will not hear any of this no matter how good the speakers and amp is. I would suggest a rugged radio with intercom. If you don't need the car to car ardio you can get the det up for about $500 and it runs right off the ipod. The best money I have spent on my car so far. Just a suggestion, good luck.

He does have a point. I have a hard time hearing mine when going say 15mph.

Thx for the sugguestion on the rugged radio option. I think i am going to stick to the more "traditional" speaker/amp option because it does give you a bit more flexibility on when you can use it (around camp etc.) and i have have spend a few $$$ on it.

Still looking for suggestions on where to put an amp... Anyone? Thx.

I put mine in the glovebox. I have seen them under the hood and mounted to the bed behind the seats.

Our systems are audible at nearly any speed. when you start mixing speaker/amp components, use cheapy amps etc... it makes a huge difference. IF that amp fits in your glove box, it's probably not enough power to run the speakers.

While headesets are cool, you don't get the fidelity out of the little speaker especially since it seems they're all freq ranged for voice and not full range music. Most, maybe except the bose, we've seen use lower driver quality and sound like bad headphones.

Plus, your then teathered to the vehicle. I don't know about you guys, but when we're not riding with tunes, our rigs are playing at the hill, at camp etc... Heck, We get customers all the time who use the stereos in camp at night becuase sleeping kids/wifes/people in the trailers they can't run the outsiden trailer systems. Our Teryx is rockin by the fire all night...

I have the SSV 3 speaker system, when riding I can't hear chit. But parked at the hill, it rocks!

I have 2 of Gregs speaker bars, 1 is above the front seats and the other is mounted on the top of the front panel of the bed facing the back seat. I have 2 6 1/2" marine speakers under the dash and they all run off a 100 watt amp in the glove box. Behind the front seats I have 2 8" slim line woofers powered by a 900 watt amp that is mounted between the woofer boxes. I made a metal cover that bolts over the amp and I silicon the edges to water proof. The system rocks and Gregs speakers are very good. It takes a little time to cover them when you wash your machine, but well worth the money.

I have my amp bolted to the bed right behind the driver seat its been there for over a year and a half and i havent had any issues i also have two 6x9s in the bed tucked in the corners right behind the seats and i can hear it pretty good.

^X2.. I put my amp behind the driver seat area mounted to the bed. It did great just make sure you cover it when washing down or you will ruin the amp and it may draw a current. I used th upper SSV pods with higher end alpine speakers with the ipod direct hook up.. It worked out great and was very loud for me. I don't think the marine speakers are very loud. I got a speaker with a higher RMS not wattage.. look at the RMS makes big difference. I personally used a extra PPI amp I had and I thought it sounded a lot cleaner then my Fosgate, but I think the fosgate should be okay.

Here are a couple of pictures of where I mounted my sub amp. I mounted it to the sub frame on top of the glove box. I think it will stay pretty dry here. There is a picture of my silver bass knob mounted. There are also some pictures of my Black Rhino switch kit and of my reverse lights. The reverse lights work great. Any questions, just ask.

f1 teryx take the time and do it right, i also had my amp behind the seat, but i had bad luck with it. even though a marine amp is not true water resistant, the teminals doesn't corrode as fast as a conventional amp. but i recommend it. after going thru hundreds of dollars spent i finally took the time and did it right. i went with the ssv upper and lower speaker pods. and i went with the 10" subwoofer in the center. NOW i used the ssv speakers which the are OK. and i also used a L7 kicker sub (way overboard had it laying around) anyways alpine makes a great 5 channel but its too $$$ for me so i went with pyle audio 6channel @ 189 bucks on ebay. so far after 8months no complaints. i also added a crossover in the dash because i'm way to picky about sound and installed the amp inside the dash; had to custom fab my brackets and delete the cup holder, which the bass box has 2 of them. I have a 2010 so it's a little easier but i'm sure the 08 and 09 can be done if the hood comes off. At 60mph i still can here the music pretty good but nooo bass, 35mph and under the mirror shake. good idea by not using a deck. good luck!!

mine is mounted in a box over my head ( the inside of the roof) and although i dont wear a helmet, which im sure makes a difference i have NO problem hearing it at any speed..now hearing my wife over it thats a different story lol. i got it from boatfix.com..thing was like 100 bucks for the speakers amp and i pod hook up dont get me wrong its not concert quality but i am very pleased with it .

F1 teryx, I will shoot some pics tomorrow and post. Ryan (owner of Chucktronics in Lodi, CA installed mine (09) and my friends (08). Ipod direct using Zapco, Wet Sounds pods/enclosure (same as SSV). the speakers are all Wet Sounds. we are using a separate Volume control (Zapco). one amp, Arc Audio mini 4 channel, system rocks. all amp/hardware in battery compartment. Ryan did a pretty sweet install, google his shop for pics of his work. he is well known for his boat installs.
