Is the cargo box worth it? I can pick one up for $339 at the dealership, but for that price... I could buy a couple huge coolers.

Now of course, aesthetically, the cargo box can't be beat. Have any of you that have one had any problems with it that make you wish you hadn't bought it? If it was "included" in the deal when you bought your machine, would you have rather just taken an extra ~$300 off of the purchase price instead?

The latches looked a bit cheaply made. Also, it doesn't appear to have any weight bearing capability if I needed to strap something to the top of it, so I suppose I'd need to plan ahead and remove it when I plan to haul something.

Let me know if I should just man up and buy it, or if I should just throw a big cooler on the back with tie-downs.

I guess it is all preference. I love mine for functionality and fit and finish, but I don't like that I can never use my bed without going through the hassle of taking it out. Sure a large cooler will fulfill the same purpose, and probably carry alot more. So it is really all preference. I don't regret buying mine.

Get the cargo box.Really love mine.Its like a spacious trunk in the back.If your like me,you can carry a tool box,rain gear,and even a small child....well you get the point.

Mine was included in the price of my T4, if they had offered to take $400 off without it, I wouldn't have done it. I love mine, it holds lots and looks good. For the most part, it keeps water out, when I'm power washing the machine after a ride, it gets a bit of water in, but not a big deal. The clamps do look a bit cheap, but so far, they have worked great.

I like mine for fit, finish and functionality. I just wish it was water tight cause me and one of my buds have both flooded them with water!

My lid warped in the first desert heat, the latch wont stay down/locked and the cooler box leaked, I carry lots of various items and like having it there but my jury is still deadlocked on the box. If it stays I will go to better latch., I carry a 10lb CO2 tank, tools, and work supplies in there(EMS for desert racers) and like knowing its secured.

I've heard from a few people that the cooler box leaks. I want to keep the wet stuff wet, and the dry stuff dry... I guess I could just pull that out of there and put a normal cooler of about the same size inside instead.

Those latches definitely suck. It's like they drew this thing up, and made it look awesome and aesthetically pleasing, and then threw cheap stuff in anywhere you can't see and notice on first glance.

Eventually I would like a factory cargo box but in the mean time I found this box at walmart for $19.99, a rubber floor mat between the box and the bed for $9.99 and some straps that I had.

Its not pretty, its not huge, its probably not water tight but, it works and provides room for one or two Rotopax as well.

I love the cargo box as well with 2 exceptions. 1- it really needs dividers! Anyone figure out a way to keep everything from just becoming a mess in the box? and 2- I ride a lot of very rocky area and the small box that layes in there (I think they call it the cooler) always bounces and falls down in the main box. I use the small box as a tool box and keep all tools, plug kit, etc in there. Latches work great and it does a great job keeping water out! I bought mine with the T4 as well

I put all of my smaller stuff in a regular size tool box and put it inside the cargo box. You can bungee it in. Or I also put my chain saw in there and wedge it in with a small cooler and other odds and ends. I stuff my ponchos and TP up along the edges in the tunnels created by the corners. I haven't really used my coolers. I have 2 for it. If anyone wants one or both, please let me know. Thanks!!

I use 2 smaller rubbermaid containers to keep the stuff I don't want to bounce all over the box in. They seem to work good.

Plano Field Box

The Plano Field Boxes fit great in the bed of the T4...there is enough room I think you could fit 5 of them side by side. I have one already and am buying a couple more today when I run into town. They are strong enough that I have stood on top of mine before to reach onto a upper shelf. Not waterproof but water resistant.

Unless you really like the look, for that kind of money, I'd go with a cooler.
