Hey guys, long time lurker. I'm looking to get into the SXS market for the first time.
Here is a little background check for our needs:
We live in Michigan on a dirt road and would like something for the family to enjoy. We live on 70 acres and also have a cabin up north near the trails. We have 3 ATV's right now that we all use and they are starting to become a pain in the rear for what i do...
I would say that 90% of the time, the SXS would be used by just me to beat bop around the property, cut a little wood, hang some tree stands ect. I also own a loader tractor and skid loader, so I don't necessarily think that i need something too utilitarian...
The rest of the time, i think it will be cruising around the back-roads or property with the kids to kill some time on a boring weekend.
I would say that once or twice a year we would possibly take it up north to ride on the trails as a family. We wouldn't do anything crazy, just some fun trail riding.
Wifes rule is that we get something with a minimum of 4 seats, my rule is that it isn't a month long (Ranger crew...)
So here is where i am at. Since we are going to be dipping our toes into the water to see what we like/need in a SXS, i have a real hard time buying new. It is impossible to find a Mule FXT used, so that would be about a 15k investment if i were to get a good deal.
There is a 2012 T4 Camo near me on CL right now with 1500 miles and he is asking 9k for it. I am very tempted to take a look at it and see if he will take $8k for it...
Basically, which way do i go here?
2012 T4 $8-9K
2015 T4 $11-12K
New FXT $15-16k
