This is going to be a long one and I’ll do my best to answer questions if there are any on how I did my mods. 99% of the stuff I have done can be done by anyone and you don’t need a welder or a fabricator. My machine ends up being the prototype and after we figure it out it ends up being nicer on my buddies (we run about 17 of these things amongst us) so you can polish these mods up. We use ours in Nevada so it’s rocks, trails and hunting in isolated areas.

Well I recently got my bevel replaced and basically have a new motor. After 4600ish hard miles I was looking to get a new machine but now I can’t justify it.
I decided all the things I “wanted” to do over the years- I’m going to.

Before I stripped it down I was going to install the Satv heater. Well one panel turned into a project. The dealer stripped out my shifter handle screw so fortunately I figured that out in my garage instead on a trail. When I pulled the console plastic half of my heat shielding was loose and I had a bunch of dry brush packed Under the motor (smoke smell finally diagnosed). So here is my machine before:
Mods, tire carrier, 4 place intercom, glass windshield, golf cart heater, roof rack, soft doors, door extensions, door bags, dome light, radios, 2” lift, 1.5 spacers, rear rack, bunch of lights, 28” tusks. I’m sure I’m missing things.

So I stripped it down and I’m adding a ranger crew bed, bumper, rock lights Trinity exhaust, skid plates, satv heater, snorkel?, clutches flash and the mid travel. Bed mock up/progress : the plan is to frame it with removable ramps and sheet the sides. Should bolt up fairly easy once I weld the bed frame up.
Ranger crew bed is shortened about 8” to the frame. I bought it (with dump frame) off Craigslist for $80, the guy cut the plastic to fit in a toy hauler. I plastic welded the cut line and reinforced it with mesh it’s not moving now and is stout. The aluminum bumper is a junk yard find off a Toyota (free with brackets) and the bumper face piece is off of an old t4 bumper my buddy had that broke. I’m into the bed $85 right now.
I decided I’m going do a 10-12” frame stretch so I can’t mount it until that happens. Im going build 3” bed lift that mounts to the stretched teryx frame

Trinity exhaust stage 5. In case you want tips and silent cores you have to order those separate but according to Trinity it can be done. Update I ordered the tips and the cores, this thing sounds amazing (without the silencer it’s not going to work hunting but damn it’s fun to fire up right now).

Well got some more on the bed done, I added an old jeep jk receiver . Figured out the tailgate and have the ramps mocked on the side (not cut down yet). Can’t really finish the bed until I pull the trigger on the stretch, when that’s done I will be able to do finishing and final fit. But once the stretch is done I will stack 2 x 1.5” squares for a 3” bed lift. I’ll run a boat side ish steel out and and angle it so the outside ramps will bolt to that. I’m torn between hinging them and having more table space for over landing or making them removable. Anyway here’s the update photos-also if you didn’t want to do all this and found a complete ranger bed cheap they almost direct bolt up (with a hell of an over hang but very do able.) Lastly nothing is level the bed is just floating on the Kawi frame.

The temp dropped so I stopped the bed. The plus side is I got the rock (really just party lights) installed after a year of looking at them.

Yeah the small boxes stack up. Mine are zip tied for now, once I find out if the spots are right I’ll mount them a little more permanent.

Added a pop out awning this week and cleaned up some wiring. I also added the front half of the street legal kit (turn signals horn etc). Other than that I’m about out of boxes.

It’s funny you say that, the wife bought me that overland/off road awning for Christmas I just haven’t had the time to mount it . I’ll grab some pictures when I get it out of the garage and can actually show something. I was on the fence about mounting one permanently but the thing holds solid. It seems pretty heavy duty and between winter hunts and summer heat in the desert I think it will be worth it’s weight in gold.
The other stuff I bought on fire sales and didn’t have the time to mount up.

Nice it's funny I had a rock light kit for almost a year & I finally installed it on one of the weekends I was off & I said to myself damn I should have done that months ago. It wasn't hard to do just tedious with running all the wires where I wanted them. Sometimes it's hard to get motivated & when you do it's like damn. Lol

I hesitate to post this one but I’m shaping the tail gate. I was going to buy one but it turns out that Polaris is real proud and so are the parts dealers. I need to cut the top down but I used an old tailgate toolbox I had laying around. I split it in half and sandwiched the ramp that was cut to fit. When I’m done it will be 4” shorter which puts it flush to the “apex” start.

it will sit 5 1/4” higher than the bed rails but when I’m done I think it will work right. I also need to space the hinges more so it will lay flat. But sofar I like the design.Garage custom and still a budget build as I’m currently $120 into it.

That's Crazy but cool have you figured out how much weight you're going to be adding to the rear suspension? Are you going to change you're rear shocks & springs to compensate for the weight you're adding & if you have any passengers or animals you will be carrying? Just a thought? I'm sure you allready have a plan.

I haven't locked in my plan for the weight yet (the set up is heavy). The good news is once I cover the distance to the trail I rarely drive over 10 mph so that helps with rebound. Once I get the stretch done then I will figure out how it rides as the weight will sit different. After a couple rides, I will reassess and figure out how much I need to beef it up. For the suspension I am pretty set on the stage 3 Hester mid travel (unless someone else wants to sponsor a guy). I am going to call Hester once I have my build done, give him the new loaded weights and see what he recommends. I will probably call bandit also if I am not mistaken they build the shocks after you give them details about the set up (racks weight etc).

Ahhh sounds like you have it thought out & are on the right path. I'm thinking on buying a full set of stage 3 Elkas for my Rig I've been messing around with trying to figure out my max load at times atleast worse case scenario. Usually trail riding it me& one other person plus gear on occasion I have 4 people. I'm working on a swing out spare tire rack for my 34" tire & mounting it to my rear SATV tube bumper that will come in time thoughI kinda procrastinate. Lol But anyway thatcmy plan. Either that or a roof mtd.To keep the weight distributed better.Just the problem is I'm allready sky high. Lol

I ultimately went with a hitch swing out bike rack and a curt spare tire carrier. I found the tire carrier on Craigslist for $30 and the swing out went on sale on Amazon for $100 something. I previously used the swing out on my slide in truck camper to carry a 35” spare. I just repurposed it and will put it on the teryx when I’m done. Again more weight to sort out. I think by doing a 15” stretch it will spread the load and shift the tail weight to tongue for lack of a better comparison. Also the Hester’s get damn good reviews so i doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Awesome thanks for the info on the sare tire carrier. Sounds like you have it researched well will be curious what you think when done. Yeah gonna have to do some saving for the Elkas but I'm sure it will help on the trail & rocks. So far the stock shocks & springs are doing there job.
