I have a 2021 4Sle
Has anybody sent in their ECU to be reprogrammed to get mor high end speed?
There are a lot of posts about this if you search the forum, but yes, I sent my ECU in to Alba Racing to have it programmed. It was an easy process once you actually get the ECU out, which is a bit of a pain. Just dropped it in the mail, and less than a week later it was back in my hands. My top end is now around 64 mph I believe with 28" tires. It also bumps the diff lock speed limiter to around 18 mph I think.

Yes, Alba for mine as well. Mine has seen 63 mph but man was it SCREAMING!!! I found that 56 is a nice top speed if traveling. Still fast enough for my rural back roads here in Iowa (55) and engine didn’t feel like it was stressing like it was at 63.

Also, make sure you read up on how to take the ECU out. There are a few posts on forum about it. And make sure you are looking at the posts with the current body style. I think 2017 or 2018 and up will justify. Anything lower the dash is alittle different and u can use the ignition whole for access. My 2021 4 S LE. You can’t.

I have a 2022 Teryx 4 SLE here in Florida. UTV's are considered Off Highway Vehicles. I can get a tag and registration if I can temporarily convert it into a LSV. Anybody know how to restrict the speed (temporarily) so that it maxes out at 24 mph? Yes, I know that no one ever said they wanted to decrease the max speed but this is just so I can get a tag on it.

Is this just for an inspection or road test or something? If you lock the front differential in 4 wheel drive it will max out at around 14 or 16 mph I think. But I wouldn't drive too aggressively on the pavement like that.

thanx for the response. yes, it is just for a road test. my only concern is that they notice it is in 4WD and call me on it. was hoping to find someway to put a governor on it that I can easily remove after they inspect it. I remember as a kid my dad putting a governor on my go cart to slow it down. hoping to find something similar

I see. That's an interesting problem, haha. You're probably right that they may call you out on the diff lock. The throttle is cable controlled, so there may be some way to just put a mechanical stop somewhere on the throttle cable or throttle body? My kids little Polaris Outlaw 70 efi has a simple adjustment on the end of the cable where it connects to the throttle body that literally just shortens the cable stroke to limit the top speed. Or hide a small block of some kind under the gas pedal to limit how far down you can push it?

Like said above, I'm thinking you could make a physical throttle stop on it. I would do it someplace at the engine, basically under the plastics, where it is hard to see. You would just need to set it pretty conservative, or make sure when you do set it the top speed will be limited enough for the conditions it will be tested in. For example the same throttle percentage can mean different top speeds depending on where you are driving......a slight downgrade on a paved road will give you a higher speed than running through thick mud, or even just dirt or grass. Just hope the person inspecting it doesn't know any better or is very mechanically inclined.
