Hello been riding a T4 s le for about a year now, just put new BFG 30x10x14 tires on stock wheels. Anyone know what tire pressure I can run at? They came w/ 32 psi after install but that is to hard for desert riding, so I have them set at 25 but would like to go as low as 20 psi.

I can't imagine 20psi being a problem. Riding in the desert I don't think you would roll the tire off the bead in corners even at 10psi. Is this a light truck tire? If so, it probably has a stiffer sidewall that an average UTV tire.

"unexpert" opinion, Mike

If that is a Light Truck tire, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you couldn't run it at darn near 0 PSI.
Basically, you would want to run the tire as soft as possible without it coming off the rim.

Your tire is a BIG part of your suspension. Hard tire = hard ride.

That is marketed as a UTV specific tire (besides for what is says on the BFG website, when is the last time you saw a light truck running 14" rims???).

In any case, I think even 20 psi is pretty high for off-road driving. I usually run 10 psi max in my tires that are the same size for normal trail riding and road riding, and bump down to 7-8 psi on hardcore trails. My recommendation would be to go ride a section of trail at 20 psi, lower the pressure to 15 and ride over it again, and then maybe go down to 10 and try it again to see the difference. Just this weekend a buddy was trying out his new 32's that had 16 psi in them. After a couple hours on the trail we dropped them down to 8 psi and it make a big difference in the ride, and there was hardly any "bulge" in the tire at that pressure.

The Tensor Regulator tires I'm running on 14" Method wheels are marked LT (light truck) on the sidewall. Not to say there are actually light trucks running 14" tires these days!

I see what you are saying. Looked at a set and they do have "LT" on the sidewall and while "DOT compliant" the website also says "not for highway service". A little confusing!

it depends on the terrain you're riding in IMO I usually run 15 -17psi around the house but when I go rock crawling it is 6psi Iv been doing a lot of rock crawling at Disney Okla & running a lot of pressure you will not get the grip you need, I've seen people out there that don't drop there tire pressure & all they do is spin its also hard on the drive train as well. I always carry a tire gauge & have helped more than a few people out there running to much tire pressure they are amazed after you drop there pressure what there rig will do.

I am also running 30/10/14 tires on Teryx aluminum wheels. I run mine at 16-18psi depending on terrain but have gone to 13 over wet rocky trails for better grip. That 32psi figure would be fine for a 5000lb truck but a less than 2k SxS can be run where you want. Grip and comfort should be your goal here and running around on tires as hard as a rock detracts from your riding experience. You’ll also wear out the center of your tires quickly if they are overinflated. Check your pressures often to make your investment last.

I'd run 7-10 lbs even if they aren't Bead lock wheels in the sand it will give you a better footprint. Any person who does rock crawling & do it professionally will tell you to air down.

Running too low of air pressure on stock wheels is risky. If you have beadlock wheels by all means getting really low has advantages over many trail types. I’ve seen numerous rigs loose the bead on non-beadlocks, especially on the inside bead, at Gilmer and Jacksonville running too low for the type of wheel they had. Being stuck in the Texas sun isn’t very desirable in August.

I've been running 6lbs fir over a year without issue & so has a few others I ride with on stock alluminum or aftermarket wheels & I beat on my Teryx4 & my wheels have the damage to prove it. To ea there own. But most who rock crawl air down as do all youre pro racers be it bouncers or side by sides. If you ride where I do you won't climb some of the rock ledges with over 15psi in a stock or aftermarket wheel. I know from experience.

I have two set of tires depending on the riding conditions:
30x10-14 Crawler XGs - max load of 1,330 lbs. @ 25 psi
29.5x10-14 Terminators - 594 lb. load @ 12 psi
You can basically pull the valve stems out of either set and it's not obvious they are completely "flat". I had one of the front Crawlers with a small leak and after sitting in the garage for a couple weeks noticed a slight bulge in the tire, just enough to make it look a little low if you stared at it. I have a pressure gauge that shows down to 3 PSI and it didn't move when I check the pressure (less than 3 psi). There is no bulge on the Terminators if just parked in the garage if they are basically flat despite the "low" load rating.
I've ran with guys for years that use single digit air pressures on non-beadlock rims and don't think I've ever seen one loose a bead. Granted, this is lower speed East coast style rough trails and not high speed stuff. Also very unusual to only lose an inner bead. On a traditional wheel the inner bead is much wider than the outer bead and thus a lot harder to debead. Not saying it can't be done, just not as common by far. There is a reason for this and it's for mounting a tire....on a traditional wheel go try to mount a tire starting at the inner bead!

I've been running my EFX Motovators for over a year at 6lbs Rock crawling & trail riding & I haven't had any issues ToddBluh has followed me he knows I don't mess around. I punctured a sidewall on a huge jagged rock never took it off the bead plugged it & went on my way. It's a spare tire & wheel now. It has a slow leak but I ran on it a 6lbs the rest of the weekend without issue.
Plus the ride at 6lbs vs 15 is night & day difference on the rock.

I run mine at 12psi all the way around, but they are a different tire. 20 would be fine if you are of road. what tire brand do you have?

Yes when I'm not rock crawling I run 17psi in my tires around the house. But the majority of the time at the off road parks here & I just keep my tire pressure at 6psi , I've found that's the best tire pressure to run for my Rig, I've played with the tire pressures alot at the parks I go to & for my setup where I go it's 6psi. I'm running 34x9.50-18 EFX Motovators it's in my signature on 18" wheels
