Unless I'm mistaken, It used to suck it right from the engine compartment. I'm confused why u think taking a much cooler air in and just passing thru it the same area would be worse. I'm not the first in these forums to run one thru this area but others removed heat shields so they could keep cup holders. Rear Cup holders were not that important to me.

But by no means am I an expert. I will keep you all updated on it. So far so good.

The stock design was worse. Its just that we have all snorkelled the cvt intake to the front to get cooler air. I think that long of a run to get fresh air at the back coukd be hard on the machine on hot days

Running 95-100 degree air further will still be better than pulling 200+ degree air straight into the cvt out of the engine compartment. Worse case scenario, add a blower fan inline to force the cooler air in.

I agree Tator... And when u rev it up its a fan anyways. It sucks the air in and blows it out with such force I can't imagine even needing the fan.

And really if u measured the length from CVT to under hood and over to side it can't be but maybe a couple feet shorter than mine that just runs straight back and up. To me its a no brainer... If ur relocating just for the belt, go to the front, if u want to relocated for the belt and be able to go deep.... Get triangle ATV to take it to the back.

No kit here. Did custom and no issues so far in any of ours.

Do you have any pictures of your install and finished. I would love to know how and where you did yours and what materials you used. Thanks.

JCJC2U,

How is the snorkels holding up? And belt issues? I got water in my belt yesterday for the last time. Gonna order this kit of you tell me yours is still good to go!

Danny
Still doing great! The metal cover thru the middle rear has a little wear and tear but nothing much. I haven't touched one part of the snorkel since it was installed 1.5 years ago. I drove thru the river last weekend multiple times and it was over the hood. I did end up snorkeling the exhaust because this machine doesn't like the back pressure if u let off gas it wants to die.

I dont want to do the triangle because i was told by a good source that some people have a lot of trouble doing two inch pipe which is what triangle uses. I actually ordered one and had it sent back when it got here. I am going to do some sort of snorkle with three inch pipe which i was told to use and i dont want to run mine to the rear on the air intake and the cvt intake. Going to run those up the a pillars. I think but i am still not 100 percent on any of it but the cvt exhaust is deffinantly getting done and going out the back some where. Beside useing sched. 40 i am also going to advance and get some pipes and connector for air intakes they sell for the parts of the snorkle that is going to stick up out of the plastic. Nice clean look this way instead of having pvc pipes sticking out. Anyone know where to get high temp flex tubing. I will even split the cost of some if it costly if someone want to go in on it with me. Any more advise from yours jcjc2u. Thanks buddy

I like it, I've been trying to figure out how I want to snorkel my exhaust just can't make up my mind.
It's a two piece design. The bottom is a smaller pipe that comes up thru bed about a foot. And then a larger pipe slips over it on top. Each wrapped with exhaust header wrap. I wanted to be sure it wouldn't burn peoples skin off.

I'm confused. U are asking for the same high temp flex that triangle uses. They may would sell u some who knows. They use top notch parts and this snorkel is the best on the market. Ur source says its hard to do but 100s of people have installed this kit. Don't be skeered! Lol

100's have installed this kit. and I've bet I've heard from 99 of them. they're burning up the belts from improper cooling of the CVT and they're having to plumb fans into the intakes of the CVT.

remember. when you stop. CVT is in a 250* bake oven. clutch is NOT turning, air is NOT moving.

If snorkeling. use an inexpensive "3 inch attwood turbo fan" 22.00 on amazon. these make all the difference in how the belt lasts due to heat disintegration.

I have clutches I get in here so badly overheated, they melt the clutch buttons, melt the crank seal behind the clutch, and actually deform the aluminum of the CVT outer sheave.

I use polyethelyene 3 inch smooth bore tubing. it doesn't kink and you can install it anywhere and it's very heat resistant, also clear, so you can see what's collecting in the snorkels.

Some home made snorkel kits fail because they leak and collect mud and then plug up totally restricting flow

Where are you getting your tubing John?

Spencerw2,

How noisy is the fan? I plan on putting mine on a switch to where I can control when it is on or off.

It can get annoying just because I have the snorkel running up to front of passenger side. I have mine wired to be on if the switch is on. Will probably add a switch to it this summer. Just be careful with a switch. This fan will block some airflow if it is installed and not running. Probably needs to run most of the time.
